The year was almost to a close. This meant several things around JFKHS. First, it meant students were gearing up for their mid terms. Almost everyone was seen cramming for their big tests during free periods. The library was full, the quad was packed with students in scarfs and prep books, and kids were flipping through flash cards like their life depended on it. Second, vacation was coming. And third, auditions for the spring play were in motion. The play hadn't been decided yet, but the theater department was doing screenings while it deliberated it's selection. It was looking like they were going to adapt Tale of Two Cities, but they didn't want to make an announcement until they were positive.
But, the theater department was in full swing. Unlocked, stocked, and mostly unsupervised, it's insides were at the disposal of anyone who dared enter. And so, there Rielle was, digging through it's make up stores. Her black eye was, well, it wasn't looking good. Having only been mugged the day before, it was pretty badly bruised, and still swollen. Her nose had finally stopped bleeding, and thankfully hadn't been broken. But she was still looking worse for the wear. Unfortunately, the girl had been blessed with (or lucky enough to be able to afford treatments for) extremely clear skin, so her need for heavy foundation was slim. What she had in her personal arsenal wasn't nearly enough to color the deep purple hue of her shiner.
She was almost positive the theater geeks had something, though. They were always in make up on stage. There was bound to be something strong in their drawers. And they wouldn't mind if she borrowed some. They wouldn't even have to know it was missing. If she got caught? She was pretty sure it was worth it not to have to wear sunglasses on her face the entire day. People were starting to stare at her. The story of her mugging hadn't gotten around, mostly because she hadn't told many people. Pretty much, only Sarah and Ariel knew about it. And she wanted to keep it that way, thank you very much.
