The first thing Carter remembers was that he hated having hardwood floors, because he couldn't count the number of times he was awoken by rolling off the couch and meeting the hard floor up close and personal. He groaned as he ruffled his hair a bit...normally his daily hair care routine when he woke up. However, it was dark outside and he glanced at the time glowing on his mobile. '10:41pm. Why didn't Abby wake me...she must be pissed.' She always seemed a little upset when he'd work into the night and crash on the couch rather than go to bed with her. Mine as well get a few good hours of sleep in.
Although it was sort of a summer break for him, they had already started planning the next season, arcs, guest stars, etc. Also Comic-Con was coming up and he had a panel like he did for the past few years. No matter how many times he had a panel he never got over how awesome it was to meet the fans. Have people screaming his name and that they loved him. Although being in the spotlight sucked at times having die-hard fans who would wait in line for hours to see a panel about his creation was something he'd never get tired of. It was the coolest thing ever.
On the way to bed he shucked off his converse and fell onto the covers. He was too tired to change into his pajamas. He maneuvered around a bit to slide under the covers and his hand came into contact with a wet cold sticky substance. He grimaced, he always told Abby not to drink sugary stuff when in bed. He pulled his hand out and his heart stopped. While he couldn't see the color in the faint moonlight the slight metallic smell tipped him off that it would be red. All fatigue leaving him he jumped off the bed and threw back the sheet. Blood. There was a puddle of blood coming from between Abby's legs. His heart was racing as his mind practically shut down. What was he supposed to do? He wasn't a doctor and it was too early...she wasn't due for another week or two. Also blood wasn't a good sign...if it was water it would mean she was going into early labor. But blood...blood was never good. He shook his head to focus on the task at hand. He ran around the side of the bed and shook Abby,
"Abby, Abby, baby, you need to wake up, I'm taking you to the hospital...you're bleeding."
