Who: Laney and Alfie
What: sneaking out and noticing their lack of powers
When: tonight
Rated: TBD

Laney stood under the telephone pole that marked exactly half the distance between her house and the Tibbits. She felt like it had been ages since she'd seen her boyfriend, when it reality, it was probably only days. She'd gone to the beach the past few ones before, and laid out. Her skin now had a tan glow and her hair was starting to look a little blonder. It wouldn't be staying that way for long, though. She was planning on dying it purple within the next couple weeks, but wanted to run it by Alfie first. She didn't want him to hate it. That'd be awful.

Leaning her back against the wood of the pole, she sighed and checked her phone. Alfie would be along any minute. She wasn't sure what they were going to do, but she figured he might have some kind of idea. They usually just hung out anyways. It didn't have to be anything special as long as she was with him.

She looked up when she heard feet on pavement approaching and smiled when she saw who it was. "Hi," she said, taking a few steps to close the distance between her and Alfie, and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Alfie wasn't sure where Laney had been these past couple of days. He thought she had told him something about the beach, but he was busy trying to beat his newest game in the hopes that he could try and get the image of her naked body out of his mind for a little while. The beating of the game took much longer than it normally would have because of such a constant distraction. He wasn't sure what was happening to him, but this was going to be the death of him. He was sure.

Seeing her though brought a smile to his face, and when she wrapped her arms around his neck, he hugged her back, lifting her off the ground but... only a little bit. He frowned a bit, wondering why he hadn't practically lifted her up to the stratosphere like usual, but seeing her now put those doubts out of his mind for the time being. "Hey," he said, kissing her cheek once they pulled away a bit. He took her hand and turned to begin walking to who knows where.

"So... what have you been up to?"

Laney didn't notice that Alfie only lifted her up a little. She had other things on her mind-- like how much she actually missed him now that he was right in front of her. It was weird, she thought, how someone she was such good friends with and hadn't even thought to like, was now all she thought about. And liked. Very weird. But it didn't matter so much, because he liked her back, and he seemed just as happy to see her.

"Not much. Went to the beach a couple times. Can't you tell?" She held out the arm she wasn't holding his with to show him. It was probably a little too dark out for him to see, but she didn't care. Alfie turned her into a giddy school girl, and she hated it. But she also kind of loved it. It was yet another weird thing that Laney didn't understand, but didn't really feel the need to. "I even went as my older self. No one even noticed!"

Alfie couldn't really see how bronzey she had gotten until he squinted his eyes a bit and then nodded. "Oh yeah! Dude, maybe I need to get out of the house for a while. I bet some sun will do my pastey white ass some good." Nico had told him that it would probably be a good idea to take Laney out some time. Maybe a date at the beach would do the trick, some food afterward. Nothing fancy. Maybe even a Wendy's frosty.

He raised an eyebrow at her last comment though, trying to hide how jealous he felt that other people were looking at her in her older form and that he was purposefully denying himself of the luxury just so that he wouldn't jump her bones at the mere sight of her. "Really? No one?" That was sort of hard to believe. But then, she did look rather different as an adult than as a teenager. Maybe it was true.

"You're not that pale. But you're definitely not as tan as me," she teased, bumping into his side playfully. "We could go to the beach some time, if you want? It'll be fun." She wasn't necessarily girly, but Laney loved the beach. It was just perfect. The fact that she lived on an island surrounded by beaches was just one of the very many reasons that she didn't mind living there.

"Well, I don't know. But this guy was smoking cigarettes on the beach, and he gave it to me to have some. And he didn't say anything, so I'm pretty sure he believed me." He'd even kind of hit on her, but she wasn't going to tell Alfie that because she didn't care. She was happy with Alfie. She loved him, even if he didn't necessarily know that yet.
