Laney didn't notice that Alfie only lifted her up a little. She had other things on her mind-- like how much she actually missed him now that he was right in front of her. It was weird, she thought, how someone she was such good friends with and hadn't even thought to like, was now all she thought about. And liked. Very weird. But it didn't matter so much, because he liked her back, and he seemed just as happy to see her.
"Not much. Went to the beach a couple times. Can't you tell?" She held out the arm she wasn't holding his with to show him. It was probably a little too dark out for him to see, but she didn't care. Alfie turned her into a giddy school girl, and she hated it. But she also kind of loved it. It was yet another weird thing that Laney didn't understand, but didn't really feel the need to. "I even went as my older self. No one even noticed!"
