Who: Janey and Luke.
What: Hanging out.
Where: The beach.
When: New Years Eve.
Rating: No idea. Be ready for anything, I guess.
The water had a mild chop to it, though it was quiet for the most part. It was nothing compared to the way the town was lighting up for New Year's. It was almost deja vu. The beach. The humming of music coming from houses with parties going on. The slap of the waves against the shoreline. The same burning feeling of intense desire and nervousness. Janey blew out some smoke and coughed a bit. She hadn't realized how long she had been holding it in, just thinking. Her back was to the shore as she gazed out at the ocean.
A cold wind ruffled her loose hair, and she pulled her coat tighter around herself. This was a stupid idea. She couldn't remember if she should blame herself or him. Or both. Both. That was a good idea. She cleared her throat and tapped some ash off her cigarette. The familiar New Year's song played on blast in her head, and as much as she fought to push it away, it only came back louder. That song had such powerful memories attached to it. It reminded her of everything she lost that day last year. She sighed. Emotions were stupid things, especially when you allowed them to control your life. So why allow it?
Janey tossed her cig out into the ocean and straightened up her outfit. She was freezing, but she was here. And she'd waited long enough. Though, by the time she'd decided to turn around and forget this whole thing, it was too late. She was staring straight at him. And it was New Years Eve. The humming music coming from houses. The beach. And that vague feeling of deja vu creeping up on her all over again.
