log! Ghost and Dane
Who: Sarah and Dane
When: Early Tuesday morning
What: come home after a night out. Sarah makes a very drunken pass at Dane, and thus dooms their friendship to the realms of awkwardness for some time to come.
It had been a long night, and it was not an early morning – which was okay, Sarah was a night person, and a very early morning person. The sun wasn't up yet, so she was okay. She was also very, very, very full of alcohol.
"The beer, the beer was cold." That was what she was trying to say, but her words seemed to be very clear in her head, but coming out all jumbled. So what she said was more along the lines of: "Beer. Cold!"
This struck her as hysterical, how could the words be so clear in her head, and so messed up when she tried to say them? Maybe it had something to do with the way the ground was moving under her feet. She went to grab Dane's arm for support. Such a gentlemen walking her back to her room!
Damn! She was wobbling all over the place! If Dane wasn't the last one in the dorms, Sarah would have remained half phased in the bushes outside. And now she wanted more beer?
"No, Sarah, you're so done. More than done." Dane muttered, trying to stand her up. "I didn't even see you drink this much."
"Beer is COLD Dane." Why didn't he get it? Oh the fact that he didn't get it, that was funny too! "Well you weren't looking at me than!" Sarah had regained her footing, and apparently her grasp on the English language. "You where looking at the .... the.... person. The..." She snapped her fingers, took a step forward and stumbled. However she did get the word she was trying to say out; "The waitress!"
Dane had his hands out to catch her if she fell. He really didn't want her to fall through the floor, or worse, sorta be stuck there.
"Yes, one normally looks at the waitress when they order." What the hell was she talking about?
Sarah phased right through the offered hand, and sat there on the floor for a second, looking up at Dane.
"I fell." She stated mater of factley. "And you where looking at the waitress!"
A momentary panic, Dane looked up then down at here sitting on her butt on the floor. He had to stifle a laugh. "Are... are you OK?" He held out his hand. "You may be set on phase, there."
"I'm fine." She still accepted the hand up there, hauling herself to her feet and looking up at Dane. Because damn, he was tall. "Nope, solid as you." She gave him a slight push on his shoulder, to demonstrate that yup, she was solid! And of course her hand went right through said shoulder.
Tall genes. Comes from his Dad. "Uh..." Dane spoke and watched Sarah fly through him. OK, weird having a girl go through you.
He then tried to hold her again, finally getting a sold grip - albeit gentle - by her elbow. "This has got to be weird for you." He smirked at her. "Ghost... guess that name fits."
Dane... had yet to come up with a codename and it sure as hell wasn't going to be Gambit.
"Sare..." He started. "Can you concentrate on solidity? I can get you to your room if you do."
"Why would this be weird?" She gave him a confused look, completely not following. "S'why I'm called Ghost. Better than Sprite. Which is a Soda. But thanks toothpick. Your like -- my hero!"
Quite a bit of alcohol had been consumed, school stress, x-men stress, drinking alcohol was not the answer, but it had seemed like a good idea tonight. So did Sarah's next brilliant move, which was removing her elbow from Dane's grip, and turning so that she was facing him.
"Totally concentrating on solidity." She told him solemnly, looking up at him, before standing on her tiptoes, all the better for giving Dane a rather enthusiastic and drunk kiss.
What.. the... ?
Was she doing what Dane thought she was doing? Paralyzed with partial fear and shock, Dane was on the receiving end of a very wet, whiskey-smelling... well, it would be called a kiss, if it wasn't much more of a licking and lip cling.
Backing up, Dane's and Sarah's mouths made a suction cup sound as they parted. Dane's face was of shock and horror.
"Uh..." He started. Sure, Sarah was cute and all, but he never ever looked at her like this, and after that kiss, he sorta hoped he never would have to.
"Wha --." Sarah looked confused for a moment, what the hell? What was up with that face, that was -- but she had other concerns at the moment, actually. "I'm going to be sick." She announced in a rather prissy tone.
Quite possibly she was going to be sick in that potted plant.
Dane's face couldn't help it.. it was NOT anything he wanted to repeat, but that flash on Sarah's face. "Oh gawd..."
He backed up. "Look, your door is there. I ahh... gotta go."
Please say you'll forget this, Wisdom... PLEASE say you'll forget this. His head hurt the more he thought about it.
Well, that, or it was the alcohol.
Oh Sarah was going to wish she could forget this, Dane was her pal, her buddy, her platonic non kissy buddy, thanks.
Good thing she could phase, because she didn't have to deal with trying to find the keycard to her room, just sort of stumble through the door.
This was not going to be her most favorite week.
