Who: River Fan and Mateo Estevan II
When: Dec 30, around noon
Where: Bar None
Rating: R, for swearing and likely violence.
Summary: The first disastrous meeting
River was not one to lose herself in her work.
She had stomped into Bar None that morning with murder on her mind. Truth be told, she stomped as well as she could stomp in Rollerblades, although the stomping did improve slightly after she had changed into her four inch heels. Her mood did not. Two hours into her day of overseeing the goings on, which she had to do one day a week, and already one of the workers had quit. The fact that he was a Hispanic man had nothing to do with the tongue lashing she gave him, of course. That man had said he would be here today, and she looked forward to it with a malicious sort of glee.
Bar None was up scale on most days, but everything about it today failed to meet her unusually high standards. The wood did not seem to gleam and the food tasted like ash in her mouth. The bar tenders were more used to her moods than the newest chef, but she did not feel satisfied by his departure. Everything in the day seemed to remind her of him. She would never admit it to anyone, but he had already managed to get under her skin. Getting her marriage announcement had sent her heart in her throat and her stomach plummeting to the ground floor. To find out that it was the man she had been mocking just a few days before was the last straw. She only had the time to take it out on half her room before she set about making his life as miserable as he had already made her own. Her jewellery box would never be the same as all the glue in the world would never put it back together.
It was worse by the noon hour, as a trouble arose between on of the servers and a customer. They were loudly calling for the manager, and River nearly lost it once and for all right there. Stifling her anger, she pasted a smile on and went to talk to the upset party. Standing before the customer, she could tell he was judging her. Judging her for her height, her gender, her race, age and even for her trendy summer dress. She wanted to hurt him. Just after sending him on his way, she heard the door open behind her. She heaved a long suffering sigh before turning around with a chipper grin and a, "Hello! How may I help you today?"
