Same Ol' [11 Mar 2008|12:47am]
“Thought you had a place to live.”

The expression on Spike’s face was one of amusement, certainly not expecting to have seen Faith lounging about in his crypt once he returned from Los Angeles. But there the Slayer was, sprawled out on the vampire’s mattress, puffing on a smoke as she watched what sounded like a baseball game on the TV.

Not that Spike minded the sight, but still … it wasn’t every night he opened the door to his crypt to see such a shapely woman on his bed.

“I do,” Faith said with a hint of indifference as she disposed of her spent cigarette. “For now anyway.”

Faith was glad Spike was back. Not only because of the camaraderie they shared because of similar pasts, but also because she had something important to discuss with him. Her last encounter with Connor revealed some things the Slayer wasn’t exactly tickled about, and she knew just enough about the vampire’s past to know he wouldn’t like what was going on either.

How's the world ending now? )

Spike nodded as Faith grabbed her coat and left the crypt, letting the silence creep in as he smoked his third straight cigarette. Normally, the nicotine calmed him, but not now, not as he stood and thought back to how he was practically the government’s guinea pig. That chip was experimental, and it worked entirely too well.

Spike hated being out of control like that, even if it did eventually lead to a series of changes that culminated with him regaining his soul. The chip – and the Initiative – represented a lot of bad memories for the vampire, and he really hoped he would escape this new project unnoticed.

He knew he wouldn’t, but still … it was nice to wish. It was also a lot better than wondering what might happen to the first government agent dumb enough to approach the Champion.

Because Spike was certain that wouldn’t be pretty.

Beautiful Girls [11 Mar 2008|10:25pm]
Normally, the wait might have been exciting. Perhaps even nervous. Victoria was as good with written poetry as one might expect of one so melodic in voice. It was subject matter she was intimately familiar with and, considering the book she had been loosely basing her story upon, had more than enough understanding of what was required to suffiently update and lengthen it.

Yet, for all of that, Victoria had other things on her mind. Perhaps it was just as well that the bulk of it had been completed before the most recent supernatural news had reached her. She had sent the script to Star and almost completely forgotten that the girl had promised to get back to her on it. No, the vampiress had to face up to the fact that very interesting times were ahead of her now. If only 'interesting' was in the Chinese sense of the word... But it wasn't and she now had significant issues to decide for her personal future.

Then, one evening she got the call. Star was coming over to reveal her thoughts on the script and, at least glad for the distraction, Vicky expressed a mental smile and agreed to meet the blonde in her Bellagio hotel room.

And there was the knock upon door.

"Star...! How are you?"

"Tweaked!"

In an over-stimulated manner suited to that description, the waifish blonde flounced into Victoria's hotel suite. In her hands she held the script, on which she had managed to slosh a martini and then droplets of coffee. She unloaded it on a table alongside her purse. Inside the latter, something rattled. It was a miracle that any of Star's more breakable things stayed intact, such was her casual disregard for them. "I made up my mind I was blowing through this thing tonight, only I didn't sleep last night... Short version, Bobby the hedgetrimmer? Much better with actual bushes than mine. Complete waste of time."

She flopped onto a swank sofa and let her hands slap her thighs. "Anyway, I drank like three cups of espresso so I'd be rarin' to go. I finished it a half-hour ago." Because it was critically necessary, Star stopped talking and oxygenated herself. In the meantime, she took note of the brunette's outfit and wondered if they might fit in the same size pants.

Star rarely failed to provide some sort of bubbling sense of amusement to Victoria. The girl was amazingly brazen and forward, yet could somehow maintain an almost cut-throat stylishness, right along with it. In Vicky's nocturnal world of sparkle and ebony, Star was the neon glowstick handed out to every dancer upon her personal floor. A vibrant, pretty thing, designed for scintillating enrichment.

And right now, she held something just out of reach. The one thing which had been able to take the vampiress' mind off of all the latest trouble.

"And...?" Victoria dipped head as she walked over from closing door to joining her upon the couch. "Did my words stimulate where Bobby couldn't?"
