He had worried that the news would cause another outbreak or loss of control of her magic. Instead, she took it with quiet grace that surprised him, as did the kiss.
"So many of us are here from the moment of our deaths. Not everyone, of course, but it seems to me a disproportionate number. I dislike being the one to tell you such unpleasant news, but I'm immeasurably grateful for the opportunity to meet you."
For a little while, he sat in contemplative silence. It wasn't a subject that invited light-hearted conversation.
"Albus sincerely grieved over his choices, I think. It it explains a great deal. He never stopped manipulating us all like pieces on a chess board, nor did he ever stop believing in the 'greater good'. But I think his perspective shifted as to what that 'greater good' really was.
"I don't know that he'd got it completely right, even at the end. But he was a great wizard. I loved him and loathed him in equal measures."
