Giving a small chuckle herself, Sally merely shrugged it off. Perhaps she should explain? Then again, she didn't want to ruin the atmosphere. Maybe just a little taste. "Guess I can't help it. My family had a habit of dying young. Pretty sure I'm one of the only, if not the only member of the family left," she finished. It was sad, but true. Apparently no one thought it pertinent to stick around very long. Die young and save yourself, or some crap like that. Either way, as even more morbid as it sounded, she didn't mind. At least not now, anyway.
Waving her hand in his direction, she brushed it off as no big deal. "It really wasn't that hard. It was just... something to do." And now that it was over, she seemed to be falling back into a slump.
"I don't think any of us are really fulfilled with our job positions," she added, nodding in understanding at what he was saying. And with another small chuckle and bite of cake she countered with, "You're preaching to the choir, Jamie Cakes. All I can think about lately is how much fun drinking might bring to the boring monotony my life." Rolling her eyes at herself she looked down a bit ashamed at admitting it. But wasn't talking about it better than pretending it didn't exist? She wasn't even sure to be honest.
"Sorry, that was probably inappropriate," she said aloud, giving him an apologetic look. "Especially when we're celebrating how well I'm doing." Looking down at her cake she asked, "Want to watch a movie or something?" Maybe a change of pace would be good. She had no idea. She was just trying to make this not awful for Jamie. She always felt like she made things awkward and difficult for him when talking about her issues. It wasn't fair, right?
