"Yeah, and then you'll forget about poor old me, buried in the sand while you play with Emmy in the ocean. And then the tide will come in and cover me up and I'll drown," she said sarcastically. Of course she knew that wouldn't happen, but she couldn't help but tease him nonetheless.
When they got their food Amelia was slightly surprised Gideon refrained from making a comment about the amount, but if he had she would have happily reminded him about her food challenge earlier. She was not joking around, and she was definitely ravenous after sleeping like a log the entire night.
Nodding her head about not thinking negative thoughts, she took a calming breath and tried to keep herself in a happy place. It had been hard to do that recently, and the fact she had been able to achieve some bit of peace lately was a definite accomplishment. As they sat down to eat, Amelia kicked off her shoes and dug her feet into the already warm sand. He was right, she needed to enjoy the weather while it was here. It was only a matter of time before they had to revert things back to early spring and the cool, unpredictable weather that tended to go along with it. With that thought she had been just about to begin eating when Gideon started talking. Out of respect she refrained from stuffing her face at that exact moment, which was probably a godsend for what came after. Honestly, she almost dropped her plate at his words, and she sure as hell gave him a look of absolute surprise.
"I... you.. mar... really?" she started to say and she was surprised the noises coming out of her mouth were forming somewhat coherent words. A bright blush crept across her face and she bit her lower lip, trying to stifle a smile and also try to keep the same calm demeanor he was showing her right now. But in reality, she was failing miserably at that.
"Getting married sounds like an ace way to legitimize the bun in the oven, of course. Hell, my brother might even be thrilled at this point. Means you're legally stuck with me," she said, managing to at least get some of that Amelia wit out in her current situation. But after a moment she dropped that and set her food aside, pulling her feet out of the sand and moving up close to him, her arms encircling his shoulders and giving him a giant smile. "I love you Gideon Prewett. And I'm sure there's no one else I'd rather spend the rest of my weird little reality with in this time warp village." Giving him a wink she leaned in to kiss him, but not just a small peck. This one was lingering, heated. After all, the man had just basically asked to marry her. How else was she supposed to react? But as she pulled away she cocked one of her eyebrows up and gave him a questioning look. "You sure though?"
