"Why would Emmy want to bury me when we can go play in the water and leave you in the sand?" He didn't agree about the mermaid tail, either. It was plenty fun to bury someone and make them blend in as much as possible, so they looked like a severed head in the sand. It would be even better if they could get a hole deep enough so Amelia could be buried while standing, but that would be ambitious. Gideon himself could manage it, but Gideon with Emmy's help would be different. But it would still be more fun with the little girl's assistance.
Gideon was still getting used to the idea of having a hand in the running of the village. He'd been content to let Fred and George do it, but they didn't have that option anymore. It was strange, though, how the village was still around when the twins' magic had been so tied into it. How did that work? He was curious, but he wouldn't change it. For one, he'd lose Amelia if he lost the village. For the second, his family would lose him and his brother. He might've been resigned to that fate, like Fabian, in time. At the moment, Gideon wanted to live.
Making no comment on how much food his pregnant girlfriend ordered, Gideon placed his own order of just as much food. "Let's not think about that possibility, yeah? Let's just sit by the water and enjoy the warm weather while we've got it." It would go colder again after the beach was gone, and he wanted to get the most of it while he could. Gideon walked towards the shore and picked a good spot to sit on the sand, but he had something to say before he tucked into his food. "You know, I've been thinking," he began, setting the plate on the ground at his side before continuing in his nonchalant style. "I don't really want to be the father of a bastard. How does getting married sound?"
