Remus understood why his son was so insistent. He could imagine Teddy felt abandoned, which he felt terrible about, but he couldn’t swear that he’d always be there, which killed him. Never mind his condition. The village could spit him out at any time. He could, however, promise what was in his control. He kept an arm firmly around Teddy and rubbed Hope’s back with his other hand. “I will always love you,” he swore, “no matter what.
