As the monster died, the flame went out and Salazar took a look around. "I don't think so," he said in response. Salazar was silent for a moment, and raised his hand so Greg would do the same, and he listened to their surroundings. No more footsteps. They were safe. For the moment, at least.
"The spell I used. The purple flames... That would have easily killed a person. Whatever these things are, they defy the laws of nature," Salazar said shaking his head. "I should have been able to create this pile of bodies on my own." Salazar shook his head. "It makes no sense to me, God--" Salazar nearly called Greg Godric, and he was glad he caught himself. He was trying to pretend that he was unaffected by the death of a man he considered his brother, and he would have been embarassed by the slip. "You're impressive with the axe," he said, changing the subject.
