Salazar laughed lightly. "Some people aren't very smart. They're convinced I cheated in some way. If I would have used Legilimency it would have been a lot easier, but I don't like doing things that are too easy." That was lazy, and Salazar was anything but lazy. Anyway, how would be improve his skills if he cheated?
"My father began to teach me as soon as I was old enough to walk. When there was an invasion, it usually happened around where we lived. Never in my lifetime, but in my parents. A viking invasion, I mean. My mother's parents were killed during one when she was nine." At first Salazar found it strange that telling Megan about his life came so easily to him. Not anymore, though. Anymore it just seemed natural to him. And he found he liked telling her about it. "He wanted me to be prepared in case they came back. After he died, my mother would practice with me, and then Salvatrix. He taught me to use a bow as well. Though..." Salazar paused again, trying to decide if he actually wanted to tell her what he was going to say next. It was something he had only ever told Godric before, but he was sure his future self had told Rowena and Helga. "Alaric was Salvatrix's father, and he was the man who raised me, but he didn't create me," Salazar said slowly. "My mother married him while she was pregnant with me because she didn't want me to be labeled a bastard. She never told me who my real father is." Feeling strange for admitting that, Salazar shifted in his seat. "Tell me something I don't know about your life now."
