Megan wondered if all small towns were like this back home. She had always believed them to be quiet, peaceful, easy going, but this village was anything but. One hardly had a moment to breathe before the next catastrophe was occurring. Not that this counted as a catastrophe. Turning the note over in her hands once more, Megan frowned down at the thick block lettering, squinting her eyes and holding it up to her face once more. She really didn't understand why it had been left for her. For what reason? Why try to scare her off from Salazar? Megan wasn't anyone particularly important. Was that why? Perhaps Ernie was right. Perhaps someone was enamored with Salazar and took offense to him calling her his girlfriend. Megan couldn't bring herself to regret it though. She had been so happy to hear him say it the previous day. She didn't care what anyone else thought. She was happy. Salazar was wonderful. It made sense that she wouldn't be the only person to have taken notice, though she was selfishly pleased he returned the sentiment when it came to her. She only hoped that whoever was behind this ended it here. What they had was lovely, in Megan's opinion. She didn't want anyone to spoil it.
Shaking her head, she placed the note back on the coffee table and returned to nursing her cup of tea. Ernie had come by to make sure her wards were secure as soon as she had written him. Now Salazar was coming by and even though Megan felt terribly guilty for adding more stress to his life, she was happy she would get to see him again so soon. A second cup of tea was already set out for him, along with a piece of cake. It was hardly a proper breakfast, but he had asked if she had any in. As soon as she heard his knock on the door, Megan was jumping to her feet and walking over to let him in. She was about to wrench the door open but decided against it. After all, she wanted to reassure him that she could take care of herself. He didn't have to worry about her or this or anything. Peering through the peep hole to make sure it was truly Salazar, she smiled and pulled the door open as soon as she knew who was on the other side. Despite him being there for a very specific reason, Megan couldn't help the beaming, adoring gaze she greeted him with. Stepping forward, she leaned up on her tip toes to wrap her arms around him, pressing her lips to his in a kiss before pulling back with a smile. "Hello, stranger. Long time no see."
