Draco wouldn't say he was close to Alphard, but he really cared about him. He was so different from the family members Draco was used to dealing with and so much like the father Draco secretly wished for over the years. He worshiped Lucius and loved him, but he always sought warmth and caring which was not an encouraged trait. Pushing it down just made Draco explode more often than not which gained him toys, but little in the way of what he truly needed. And now? Well, Draco forgave the father he remembered from home. He knew Lucius was trying. Still, their roles seemed to be reversing. He was so bloody worried over Lucius. However, he did not visit Uncle Alphard to discuss Lucius. He was there to own up to his past. It was going to be difficult, but he'd rather know if Alphard meant the affection he claimed or was just enthralled with the version of Draco he thought he knew. Draco couldn't take another disappointment so better to cut it off before he got in too deep.
He still hoped for the best. He didn't want to lose his uncle. He smiled when Alphard opened the door and politely inclined his head. "Good afternoon, Uncle." He brushed past him and then turned to hold a hand out. "I hope you are well?"
