"It couldn't erase the whole war, Draco," he reiterated. "Only specific things. For example - I could lift the memory of your being Marked - but you would remember that you were Marked. It would just ease the trauma of the event itself, does that make sense? Erasing entire periods of time is possible but that absolutely would affect who you are now; no Healer or Psychologist would allow it."
One thing Severus recalled very much was how little Draco liked being alone.
"Draco, I've got nothing else to do and nowhere else to be." He offered a gentle smile, one that few but Draco ever saw. "I'll stay until you're sleeping. Longer, if you like. I'll summon a book I'm reading at home - potions research.
"Where do you want me?"
Sometimes in the house was enough. Sometimes, when he'd been younger, he'd wanted Severus to sit at his bedside until he'd fallen asleep.
