"Draco, I don't think 'less emotional' is the answer. It's gotten me nothing but misery and loneliness. Yes, I'm used to repressing unpleasantness so it's easier to repress my own issues related to the wars, but it's not better or easier. It's just different."
He shrugged and peered into his teacup, the liquid within having long since gone cold.
"Everyone copes differently. There is a technique with Occlumency that helps sometimes, but I'm sure you're already doing that; steeling your shields before you go to sleep for the night. But the brain needs REM sleep, and that's when most people relive their memories, and Occlumency can't turn that off. You wouldn't want to; without REM sleep, your brain can't process and store new information and your thoughts become confused and clouded during the day."
It wasn't new or surprising information; he was mostly thinking aloud.
"I don't have any answers, Draco. I'm sorry, I wish I did. I'm half joking when I offer, but selective Obliviation might help if you want to resort to drastic measures."
