Um
This isn't my thing, I don't really do
Alright, listen up. There's obviously tension going on and something has to be done, but before we do that let me start off by saying this.
Two people are dead. I don't know if people have been avoiding that conversation because they didn't want to admit it or if people didn't want to start conflict, but this is a fact. Two people are dead. They have families back home just like all of us who will never know what happened to them. They have lives, and friends and people who rely on them who now have to live without them and that's something that Derek is right about. This shouldn't be taken lightly. This is a problem. This can't be fixed. All we can do is try our damn best to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
Whether you agree or not, Hale has a right to feel the way that he does, people feel this way when people die. Sam was a member of his team, and as any leader should, he feels responsible. Whether or not that responsibility actually lies on his shoulders is not something for all of us to judge, that's to sit between him and Steve, but right now we should do whatever we can to make sure that this moved forward.
I've spoken with Steve about what happened, we've been going over possibilities and plans and in the end, everything come down to one really ugly fact that people don't want to acknowledge: none of us are a team. That might not be a bad thing in another circumstance but the sugarcoating is done from this point on; if we don't work together, we are going to die. This place will kill us. You may not want to hear it but you need to listen to it, because it's not going to change if we close our eyes and cover our ears. Unless we change something, we're going to have more bodies. A lot more. That's more families without their loved ones. We can't let that happen.
Steve has suggested that all of the team leaders have weekly meetings and I think that's a good idea. None of us are on the same page, whether we like it or not, we are not being treated equal. When you put all the weight on one person, you're doomed to fail. Putting every ounce of faith you have in Steve Rogers is going to get you killed, not because he's not a capable person but because he's just one person and there's a lot more of us than there is of him. There's a point in having team leaders. The team leaders are equal. We need to start acting like it. From this point on, nobody speaks for a team or makes decisions for a team unless it's coming directly from the team leaders mouth. This part was my idea, so if you don't like it, talk to me and we'll figure it out together. That's what a community does.
I also think that this 'raise your hand if you want to be in defense' thing needs to stop. We can't open the doors of defense to everyone who took a kickboxing class in middle school, and that's what we've been doing. You say you can fight and we just believe you; that can't happen anymore. If you're on defense, you're protecting the lives of other human beings. You need to be willing to die in order to save those who cannot save themselves, and unless you're willing to make that sacrifice then you shouldn't be on defense. From this point on, I think we should have training sessions, starting off daily and then tapering out to every other day. If you can fight, this shouldn't be a problem. If you can't, then you shouldn't be on defense.
Bravo is going to be taking Charlie out of the camp after everything settles. Relying on Alpha and Bravo for supply runs is asking Charlie and Delta to put themselves into even more danger than usual because they've never seen what's out there beyond the fences. Not everybody here has spent months, or even days, out there before finding the camp. Some of us have no idea. If those people are on defense, I'm sorry, but that needs to change. You want to fight, you need to know what you're up against.
So, a recap for discussion:
There is no one leader. This is not a dictatorship. There are several. The leaders answer to their teams and each other. The teams only have to answer to their own leader. But the teams should not be making choices for their whole team unless they've spoken to their team leader about it. There's a reason we have a hierarchy. If you have a problem with that hierarchy, say something. If not, then you need to follow this guide in order to keep everybody safe and in the loop.
Team leaders will meet with each other at least once a week. We need to give each other full reports so we're all on the same page and can stay updated on the progress on all of the teams. This is what communities do.
Bravo and Alpha are going to start taking Charlie and Delta outside of the fences. They need to start doing runs. We can't just pretend that we're all equals. We need to act like it.
Training. And a lot of it.
Those on defense can stay in their defense position but new people who want to be on defense need to actually show us that they know what they're doing. Honesty all around is a nice thought but you can't just believe someone when there are lives on the line.
All of these things are up for debate and suggestion. If you have anything to add or anything you have a problem with, let's talk about it. Even if you're not on defense. We're all relying on each other. Let's start acting like it.
