The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there. ~Lesley P. Hartley [May. 6th, 2009|02:32 pm]

It's a pleasure to share one's memories. Everything remembered is dear, endearing, touching, precious. At least the past is safe--though we didn't know it at the time. We know it now because it's in the past, because we have survived. ~Susan Sontag

Would anyone be interested in participating in a Time Warp Week at the end of the month? What Week you ask? Why the week when you ditch your character's dull and clumsy modern era to in favor of a jolly, good flashback. Anyone, anywhere, anytime except now. Dust off those lovebeads and drag out the waistcoats, because it's time to go retro--and then some.

(And, yes, this is totally a networking occasion. Because you just know Jord and Ba'al hooked up during the French Revolution.)

To start things off, here's a question: Where were [you*] during _______.

1) 1920's
2) Victorian Era (1837 - 1901)
3) Two months before they arrived in NYC.

The past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it. ~Wendell Berry

*Well, not you, you silly normal thing.

Hi folks! I've said, repeatedly, that this game is addictive like whoa, sooo... Meet Raphael, Archangel of Healing, Travelers, Lovers, Happy Meetings, Young People, Medicine Workers, Nightmares, Guardian Angels... I could go on, but you get the gist.

He can be found here at [info]healing_hand. Raphael goes by the mortal name Jason Alasdair, seems to be on the later half of his thirties and works at Bellevue Hospital as several other immortals do, as an EMT-Paramedic. Seriously, the place is crowded - ah well, let's say immortals attract each other.

Yes, it's what's-his-name from what's-that-movie. Simon Baker from The Mentalist and The Devil Wears Prada. Love you muchly, Lily ^^

There is a sense of humor behind the straight-minded paramedic layer, one just has to look for it. Raphael is most likely to have dealings with those of domains similar to him, mortals or elements of the Christian/Hebrew pantheon (zomg Pestilence BB ♥).

Azazel, I'm looking at you. And you, Medical Torture. And Rehab, and Pharmaceuticals, and... oh, I don't know. Sins, Virtues, Angels, Demons, Horsemen, anyone else, related or not - whoever throws themselves at me and him will be welcome.

Drugs. Yes, you people. There's a beautiful dual relationship there that I would love to explore with the medicinal drug gods, see where the line between relief from pain and drug abuse stands.

If you want to plot, hit me at teresavneves on AIM, teresavneves@gmail.com on GTalk/MSN, or tierce@sapo.pt by email. I'm always open to plotting with Urania, Osiris and Goth as well, so let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions!

New Character! [May. 6th, 2009|06:08 pm]

[needsmoar]
Hello everyone! Kodu here (aka. Gluttony and Naamah), bringing you a third character - Alex Young!

Her journal can be found here (because I'm too lazy to log into her account to post this introductory message up):

[info]believemeyou

Alex is, surprise surprise, a ~*mortal*~ - but hopefully someone who will have a lot of opportunities to interact with the Gods as well as her fellow men. She is very mellow, very caring and giving, and keeps an open mind about most anything. She's experimenting with different religions, trying out what works best for her, and is absolutely fascinated with mythology and folklore. She just may come to worship your God, at least once, during her stay here.

Of course, she doesn't fully believe in everything thrown her way, but she's open-minded enough to still have faith that there's something bigger out there for her. If someone told her they were a God, she would probably laugh and think they were playing a joke on her. If they persisted, she would think they aren't right in the head, but would still be gentle enough to not shun them. If they proved it... yeah. She'd freak. >.>

She's very susceptible towards any religion, from any Pantheon, and is liable to become anyone's follower, if they're persuasive enough.

So here's to fun human antics, and hopefully a little edification for those lesser-known Gods out there!

~ Kodu

(Info's still the same, btw~)

New Player and Character - Frigg [May. 6th, 2009|07:39 pm]

[spindleandloom]
Hello, I'm Willa and will be providing your friendly neighborhood Norse mother-goddess Frigg!

So, I've been going through past posts and think I've a decent idea of what's going on in the Norse pantheon - which right now is likely about all Frigg's going to care about. She's been a bit out of the loop for the last century or two at least. You can find out more here in her bio.

Speaking of Frigg, she's been keeping herself busy. She works as a private restorer of textiles and clothing out of her workshop in New York City. A recent project triggered her desire to come out of her hiding and semi-exile. Also, the fact that during the last quarter-century or so, she's begun feeling a bit "homesick" and has taken up with some recreationists and reenactors of the Viking age. (They're no replacement for family, though.) It's also re-awakened some artistic tendencies, but she's not compaining. She's been going by Margaret (Meg) Lewis for long enough that Frigg is nearly just a memory.

Her powers are something she's not used in a long while, and tends to sometimes forget she exists. Hell, sometimes she just forgets and ignores that divine aspect of her old life. Well, except for that pesky foresight, which she may or may not use to help increase personal wealth... *looks innocent*

Magelet@gmail.com or SwordMage86 on AIM is my contact info. Email's better, but whatever works for you.

This brings us to the rest of you - eventually she'll need to meet at the very least the Norse pantheon. And from there - probably most of the others. So, I need input from people - how do you think the reactions are going to be? how are you thinking of getting in contact with her? anything that should be known that I may have missed? Discuss!

Obligatory Introductory Post! [May. 6th, 2009|07:55 pm]

Howdy! I'm Lynette, and I am a brand spanking new noob. Please do not dump my books. I have played in a lot of RPs before this one and am currently modding one of my own, which means of course that I am insane.

I'm playing the new god Sex Industry, who promises to be a delightful little businesswoman. Sex Industry, who calls herself Scarlet, appears to be the patron of camwhores, strip-clubs, escort services, and anywhere sex is sold. I'd be interested in having her hook up with some of the techy-gods to explore new methods of reaching the proles, or having her run across some of the love gods/goddesses, for whom she feels both hatred and intense fascination.

Please bear with me: journal-RPs are new for me and I'm trying to get caught up to what looks to be a fast-paced game. Looking forward to playing with you all!

ETA: I'm StrayedAway on AIM, if anyone wants to ramble, but fair warning: we're having some dangerous weather in my area this evening, so I might have to bolt without warning if the lightning starts up.
