July is Time Warp Month in FG! This is the (entirely optional) opportunity for you to take full advantage of the [info]forgotten_past comm and to get brainstorming with each other on what kind of past interactions your characters might have had. Any time period is fair game, whether it's last year, last century, last millennium, or way back in antiquity.

Feel free to use this as your all-purpose plotting thread. Toss around ideas, offer your characters up for plot -- or just say hell with it and throw an open thread out there in [info]forgotten_past.

Happy time-travelling!

Hey, so who's up for another Time Warp Week?

For those who haven't been around for the previous ones, this is basically a week dedicated to exploring our characters' pasts. It's a chance to go back in time, play around with past connections and misdeeds and such things. I was thinking we could go for the first week in July, unless people have some other preference?

And to start things off, a little meme!

Where was your character during...?
1. The Elizabethan era (1558-1603)
2. The Great Depression (1929-WWII)
3. The 1960s
4. 1999

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.

Time Warp Week officially starts this Monday, so here's your all-purpose plotting thread! Feel free to toss around ideas, offer your characters up for plot -- or just say hell with it and throw up an open thread in [info]forgotten_past! Remember, any time period is fair game!

A meme for Time Warp Week [Jun. 9th, 2010|12:20 am]

And by the way, can anyone else not abbreviate that with TWW, because they associate the acronym with something else?

...

Anyways, moving right along! What with Time Warp Week coming up, I thought I'd dust off an old meme in honour of the occasion.

Because as I've said to a couple of people, sometimes you're not quite sure what one of your characters might be doing during a particular time frame - and this is quite a fun way to figure it out :)

(With an additional time period added in by me, just because.)

So, without further ado - Where was your character (or what were they doing) during _______ ?

1) 1920's
2) Victorian Era (1837 - 1901)
3) 1960's
4) Two months before they arrived in NYC.

and here are what mine were up to! )

The great eventful Present hides the Past; but through the din
Of its loud life hints and echoes from the life behind steal in.

...okay, so technically TWW started yesterday but, hey, there was grilling to do.

So who's in?

WANTED: Alive or Otherwise )

PS: The bribe is still on the table.

PPS: Guys? Please, don't email me asking for faster updates on the WANTED list. I'm doing this while at work and I'm doing this out of sheer misguided whimsy. So, let's not, okay?

Hmm.

So.

Here's the bribe bait deal: anyone who participates in TWW will receive a manip thingamajic "illustrating" the thread.

Examples of dubious glory )

Any takers?

Oooh, a tag? A honest to goodness official tag? I'm a'twitter, I am.

It's a pleasure to share one's memories. Everything remembered is dear, endearing, touching, precious. At least the past is safe--though we didn't know it at the time. We know it now because it's in the past, because we have survived. ~Susan Sontag

Would anyone be interested in participating in a Time Warp Week at the end of the month? What Week you ask? Why the week when you ditch your character's dull and clumsy modern era to in favor of a jolly, good flashback. Anyone, anywhere, anytime except now. Dust off those lovebeads and drag out the waistcoats, because it's time to go retro--and then some.

(And, yes, this is totally a networking occasion. Because you just know Jord and Ba'al hooked up during the French Revolution.)

To start things off, here's a question: Where were [you*] during _______.

1) 1920's
2) Victorian Era (1837 - 1901)
3) Two months before they arrived in NYC.

The past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it. ~Wendell Berry
