The young god had texted Bret just before he and Harvey went through security - flight's getting in at 12:40, terminal 11, can you come pick me up? and bring paul please? <3 you - and Tommy had never been so thankful to get on a plane and feel it take off; Texas was weird and scary and too red for him to be completely comfortable. And at least airplane nausea was better than Republican nausea, but, even so, Tommy had been relatively quiet during the flight, burying his nose in a textbook and only popping up every now and then to ask Harvey for his opinion on a certain case, or see if Harvey could express a complicated legal concept in simpler terms. Sometimes Tommy needed to look at something several different ways before it sunk in, so it was helpful to discuss things in less technical terms. After the first hour, though, reading the textbook had made Tommy feel even more airsick and he'd switched over to his accounting workbook, breezing through a week's worth of exercises easily before staring at the numbers made him feel cross-eyed and dizzy. Stowing the books away in his bag, he smiled softly up at Harvey before resting his cheek tentatively against his friend's shoulder and closing his eyes to get an hour or two of sleep before they touched down.
The downward tilt of the plane descending toward JFK woke him up about two hours later and he yawned, stretched, and looked out the window with an excited smile, happy to be back in New York City. And, of course, he was extremely glad that he'd managed to bring Harvey back with him, for Paul's sake, for Bret's sake, for the sake of the kids at the center, and so Tommy could feel completely safe and at ease knowing that he had three whole people who wanted him around, wanted to keep him safe and happy just like he wanted to keep them safe and happy. And, yes, he'd had to be in an uncomfortably red state and go without pot for a bit less than twenty-four hours, but it had been worth it, and worth possibly upsetting his parents in the meantime. His Father could say whatever he wanted to say, because Harvey and Paul were his friends and members of his Party and Tommy wasn't going to let them hurt longer or more than they needed to, not when he had the ability to try to help the situation. Drawn out of his reverie as the plane landed, Tommy only gripped the armrest of his chair once, when the wheels first touched down and sent a bit of a shudder through the plane.
And, then, with a slight sigh of relief that he hoped Harvey wouldn't remark upon, Tommy beamed at Harvey, happy to be back in the city that Tommy was slowly starting to see as home, as they made their way out of the plane and down the hallway that connected them to the terminal. Tommy made sure to stay beside Harvey, but just a step behind him, as he wanted the older immortal to be the first thing that Paul and Bret saw, and, even though he looked a tad tired and a bit rumpled, Tommy was smiling widely, freely. He had brought Harvey back!
