Echo was in high-spirits.
Things were going well for her; her pregnancy was progressing without incident, Narcissus was being incredibly supportive, and tomorrow she would be surrounded by friends to help her celebrate the impending birth of her child. While she was aware that just a few short months ago she had felt like nothing would ever go right again, her current run of happiness had her counting her blessings. Admittedly, the recent talk of marriage from Narcissus combine with how loving he had been acting lately had her thrown for a loop, but she managed to convince herself that he had obviously realized his true feelings for her and clearly wanted their family to be a real one.
It was with that goal in mind that she had contacted Eros, offering him lunch as a preemptive 'thank you' based on his promise to be on his best behavior at her baby shower tomorrow. Basing her decision to trust that he would honor her request and not add to any possible stress she might experience on the close friendship she believed they had, Echo figured she could use their lunch as a way of helping to smooth things over between the love god and Narcissus. She wouldn't bring up the subject of her sister-nymph, understanding that no amount of good behavior could ever change Daphne's opinion of Eros, but had hope that her testimony of how devoted and sweet the mortal she had once been rejected by was acting of late would sway her friend to see the good in Narcissus.
Arriving at the restaurant, Echo sat down and laid out the note cards she had prepared head of time. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet she had been able to write out her order ahead of time, along with an explanation of her condition. Maybe she'd be able to get a waitress who used sign language, but if not she'd make due.
