I think we should talk about a few things.
...talk about a few things...
Paris wasn't entirely certain how he should take those words. He'd been faithful to Helen all those years apart, only ever admiring women 'from afar' and never actually taking it any farther than that. How could he? His heart had belonged to her for so long and despite their untimely separation he could not bring himself to feel otherwise. It was as though he had no other choice. He had to love her, and he could not stop.
That was on his mind as he made his way to Central Park. He wasn't sure where she wanted to meet, but he had a feeling that finding her would be easy. Just as it was fairly easy to feel other immortals, there was something particularly easy about finding Helen. As though it was a sixth sense. As though he could feel her leave and enter the city without even knowing where she was, but letting that sense overpower him meant finding her. That is what he let himself do this time.
He went to where he thought the sensation was strongest, looking around in hopes that he was right. But there was also a part of him that dreaded this meeting.
...I had been thinking a lot about the past and its influences on us now...
They hadn't even really been together, not really. Not since they'd been reunited. He said he wanted to take it slow, to get to know each other all over again. Was she rethinking things? A horrible pang made him suddenly very anxious. He could not deal with something so horrible. He could not imagine life without her, not after all those years apart.
But that was his worrisome side. He needn't not think of such things and simply wait to see what Helen had to say.
