Where's My Statue?
Who: Adrenaline and Raven
What: Chance encounter; never before met
Where: Bryant Park, NYC
When: Sunday afternoon
Ratings/Warnings: Should be fairly tame
The trip to Bryant Park began as an excuse to get outside, catch some rays, and check out Le Carrousel. According to a brochure, it was built to complement the park's 'French classical style', whatever the hell that meant. Adrenaline had gone to the south of France once to try out kite surfing. If there was a connection between the oyster-crazed commune of Meze and the cabaret music bursting from the carousel speakers, she didn't catch it.
She wandered south of the lawn, inexcessible because the 'sod was taking root', and onto a sunny patio, where half of the tables and chairs were dotted with pidgeon shit. Amongst the metal furniture, there was a bronze bust of some guy named Goethe, another of Gertrude Stein. If the stooping roundness of her posture was any indication, life had ridden Gertrude hard and put her away wet. Using a table top as a step ladder, Adrenaline climbed onto the late author's lap and slung an arm around her shoulders. She propped her sunglasses atop her head. "I hate to say it, Gert, but this is not a flattering likeness."
