care to have a fortune told?
Who: Nimue and OPEN
Where: The Hollow Tree (Nimue's New Age store)
Rating/Warnings: PG, probably
Nimue was pleased with the life she had built herself. It certainly wasn't easy, but this was one of the better jobs she'd had. At least children didn't whisper stories about her at night around the campfire (much). After all, no matter what way you looked at it, owning your own business was an honorable thing to be doing, even if that business was selling watered down versions of objects that had once held power and telling people that they did not make their own futures. It was a living. It was even a living that allowed her to wear extravagant dresses, if she felt like it.
That day, Nimue opened her shop early, having gotten up early to watch the sun rise. She didn't expect any customers, but then one never knew. And perhaps she'd close early, just because. She puttered around, righting items on shelves, making sure the clothes were in order by size, and straightening out the sign that read "fortune teller - $10/20 minutes; $25/1 hour."
Once she had put the store to rights, she settled herself on a chair behind the cash register. She was pleasantly surprised to find that she had left a book on top of the case of jewelry the night before, and she picked it up to begin reading.
