Nimue was beginning to feel a light tightening somewhere inside her, which she equated to exasperation. She couldn't believe Arthur didn't know who she was. (Well, she could, since obviously it was happening right in front of her, but she couldn't believe that he still couldn't recognize her.)
And now he brought up the Lady of the Lake. He didn't think she was the Lady, did he? Nimue felt a hysterical sort of laugh building up inside of her and forced it down. Keeping up appearances, she thought dryly.
"I'm familiar with it," she said. She wasn't sure how to say, But I'm totally not her, in the weird code that they'd developed, so she shut her mouth and waited to see how he would respond.
