Who: Divorce (itsnotyouitsme) and Lust (redhots)
What: Lust's triumphant return to NYC, and the ensuing chaos.
When: Wednesday evening.
Where: JFK Airport, then Lust's penthouse.
Rating: Rated for ZOMG love charms.
First there was a lovely afternoon with the Goddess of Paparazzi. Regina had been amped up to the sky and giving, her power wafting around her sweet and filthy, just like her worshipers. She'd left Desmond amused and aching pleasantly, as always -- the woman was a pistol, to say the very least. He'd whistled a cheerful tune on his way back down to the Manhattan streets, waving jauntily up to the sky as he left the building behind him.
Next had been heading back to the office. No appointments that day, just a brief check of mail and tomorrow's schedule. Divorce stopped short when he saw the bouquet sitting on his desk. The roses were a bright contrast to the room's decor, their own perfume a reminder of something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Nothing if not cocksure, the god approached without caution, plucking the card from the arrangement. The cleaning crew in this building, Desmond had already learned, wasn't hard to bribe. Doors around here opened without much work.
Once he really looked at the whole thing, it was as if a jolt ran through him, like his hair wanted to stand on end. The New God felt something metaphysically goose him, and a second later he knew this was a god's doing rather than some mortal patient turned stalker. At any other time, Desmond would have leapt into action. He'd get his way to the bottom of the mystery and twist things around 'til he knew what was going on and how it could work to his benefit. Not tonight, though. Tonight he had to pick Lust up after her triumphant return from the West coast. She was far higher a priority than anonymous flowers.
The bouquet's card was tucked into his coat pocket as Desmond turned and left the office, locking up tight behind him. A car already waited outside, ready to whisk him away to JFK. Skirting them through metropolitan rush hour was a trick the driver earned his tip with, dropping Divorce off in what was probably the only available free space at the airport possibly some kind of promotion. In less time than should have been possible, Desmond found himself waiting for Lust at the arrivals gate. Though hardly early, he was uncharacteristically not late for a change. It was something he would have marveled at, if he wasn't so damn busy bouncing on the balls of his feet, waiting to welcome Lust home.
