I'm starting a countdown of my own, from now when I'm in relative health, to when I've made myself absolutely sick on candy. It's a very short countdown.

What if I stand over you and lecture while you're being sick? If Theo is holding your hair back instead of me, it might even stick; I imagine that sent a rather mixed message before. Perhaps that's where I slipped up.

I don't blame him for being afraid. Do you really think you could keep a candy pet and not eat him eventually?

But I like Dad's tea, back rubs, and "I told you so", plus you're so good at the hair holding. And I've got much more practice being sick like that now, I probably won't get it anywhere near your shoes this time.

[ ... ] I suppose I should let him go be free.

I'll survive if you hit my shoes, love. As long as you get well again.

That might be for the best.

I always get better, Mum. Candy can't keep me down!

That was horribly depressing, I need to go climb on a Charlie now Were you here last time it was candy world?

That's my girl.

I wasn't. Which is just as well, I imagine I'd have been far more strict about lecturing then. Just be sure to brush your teeth when you're done, alright?

Which world was it when you got here? I wonder how soon til we flip to the next one. People seem to think it's going to happen pretty quickly, but that's what we're expecting now, if they want to keep us on our toes it'll be candy for a bit longer. Unless that's not the goal at all.

I'll brush twice, definitely.

In the one that was a meadow [...] the pamphlet calls it wildflowers and talking animals world. So I suppose I only missed candyland by a few worlds before.

That sounds like a lovely place to start this whole thing in. Or is 'wildflowers and talking animals' more idyllic than it sounds?
