WHO: Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger - UKR
WHEN: Tuesday Evening
WHERE: House of Family 11
WHAT: Tending Mione's wound
WARNINGS: possible language?
STATUS: closed, incomplete

His hand on her elbow, Draco led Hermione to the master bathroom, which was connected to his own bedroom. "Here," he said, motioning to the large counter. "Hop up there and we'll get this taken care of."

He grabbed a cloth from the counter and wet it thoroughly, wringing it out before holding it out to her. "Press this against it," he said. "Make sure the bleeding has stopped."

Opening the medicine cabinet then, he began gathering the things he needed. Ointment, bandages, things like that. He had basic first aid skills, but his healing magic wasn't really up to par. He would make sure she saw Dr. Upsilon the moment they returned to the compound, but this was the best that he could do at the moment.

He had been by surprised to see her standing in his door. It wasn't what he expected to find when the doorbell rang at all, but he wasn't going to complain. Draco had nearly had a heart attack when the news of the bombings reached him, and had spent every moment since worrying about Hermione. But now she was here, and he was going to make sure she was taken care of.

"Alright," he said. "Let's take a look at what we have."

"I do like your scars," he said with a small smile. "Each one makes up part of who you are; tells a different story; adds a little more to you... But that doesn't mean I want you go adding new ones each week. There is still something to be said for the beauty of unblemished skin. Though I wouldn't trade yours for the world." He did love her scars, that was true. He liked to look at them, touch them, kiss them. They were a part of her, and he loved all parts of her. Even the "Mudblood" his aunt carved into her arm. He always tended to pay more attention to it while exploring her body. It wasn't a word he used anymore, and it represented very dark times for the both of them, dark times they hadn't quite found their way out if yet, but it also represented a change in himself. It was a change he liked, so he always gave it special care.

Once the area was clean, he grabbed for the ointment and a cotton wand, spreading the ointment in and around the wound. Treated right it wouldn't scar, and it didnt appear to be infected, which was a point in her favor.

Even as he said that, she found herself rubbing her arm, the word MUDBLOOD was still carved in her skin. She charmed it most of the time when she was out and about, but here? It hadn't seemed necessary. Most of the time she didn't even think about it. It was just there. But maybe... maybe when she got back she'd see if she could get that removed. Just that one... She hated that one. Even if Draco apparantly liked all of hers.

"I always just thought they were consequences of the job," she sighed, wincing again. "Then again I think I have a better idea now of which of us usually winds up playing nursemaid." She shoook her head a bit. "Can't really see me doing it. Too busy with my plans and charts and coordinating with Nev?" She was predicting her own future here... the least he could do was maybe tell her if she was right?

He grinned and nodded. "Too busy being a reckless Gryffindor," he said. "Always coming home with scrape or bruise or something of the like. You're like a child sometimes, love, I swear it. Never wanting to stay still while I cleaned you up. Always some plan to make. You're getting better about it, but there are still days I have to force you to stay still while I clean one wound or another."

Setting the ointment down and tossing the cotton in the waste basket, he grabbed the bandage. He peeled the backing off and pressed the piece of fabric over the cut, giving it a gentle kiss before pulling back. "There," he said, picking at the disheveled curls on her head. She would need a shower, and soon. "How does that feel?" he asked.

Despite where she was sitting, she managed to shoot him a small look while wincing. "Guess that old habits die hard. Wouldn't be much good to anyone if I didn't dive headfirst into things." She chuckled a bit. "Maybe sometimes a bit too literally?"

With the bandage on, and nothing touching the small wound it felt... better. Actually, if she was going to be honest, significantly better. She resisted the urge to reach up and touch the bandage, something she'd done a lot in the past, usually causing whomever was bandaging her up to scold her. "Better," she offered him a small smile. "It's nice to have someone looking out for me even if I'm too busy to do it myself..." When had she turned into Harry? Wasn't she always the one with the plan?

She didn't move, but sat forward a bit, tilting her head to the side, chucking as he picked at her hair. "You know I always hated these curls? I don't know if you remember but I started straighening my hair for a while? And then the war hit and there wasn't anymore time?" She smiled ever so slightly. "Sorry if I made you worry..." She wasn't really apologizing for that. More for the argument earlier. They had a lot to talk about...

"I do remember when you straightened it," he said. "I was too much of a prat to notice or care then, but it did make you significantly more attractive. You've grown into your curls though. I think they suit you. But I'd love your hair no matter what you did with it." He didn't care about her hair, really. Curly or straight, any color, she would still be the most beautiful woman on the planet to him. Nothing could change that.

With a smile in return, he moved his hand down to cup her cheek gently, his thumb running over her soft skin. "It's alright," he said softly. "I'm used to the worrying. Usually I can push it aside... But that's when I can see you. Here... Not being able to get to you just made it worse."

She couldn't help but chuckle at this. "I think if someone told you back then that we'd be in this situation, that we would get married, that I'd have broken your nose again and you would have hexed the messenger." She had never particularly liked her hair, always felt that it got in the way. At one point she'd thought that she should just save herself the aggravation and cut it off, but then... she was pretty sure that it wouldn't have looked right. "We really hated one another back then..." Amazing how things changed in just a few years. It really was.

Hermione leaned into the touch, closing her eyes, welcoming the contact. She'd thought about it, and was almost positive that that had been the point of the separation. To see how they'd react under extreme stress. What they'd do to get back together? "This isn't the first time something like this has happened, is it?" She could almost tell. There was no way he could be with her all the time. "I know that I probably don't make it easy... back home."

He grinned. "I think I would have done more than just hex them," he said. "I loathed you in school. I regret that now, obviously. But there must have been a reason for it. It had to serve some purpose." Thinking about how he had treated her back in school made him frown, thinking of the time they had lost. But really, being the way they were to each other, it made being together now so much more special.

"You don't," he said then, his voice barely above a whisper. He moved closer to her, his face just inches from hers. "Nothing with you is ever easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way."

She managed a small smile. "Well I guess you live, you learn, you become less of a prat?" she was teasing of course and winked at him to prove it. All she could do now was to look back on it and wonder how they'd gotten here. Hell if the war hadn't continued, they probably would never have gotten anywhere near this far... it would have been like Colour world, which - while nice - it wasn't what she knew... Wasn't how they'd lived. And that was part of being here. You could wonder about the what ifs or you could see them. But they weren't your version of real...

It was complicated. Just like very thing ELSE in her life.

Hermione glanced downward, just for a second before her eyes returned to his. "Well..." she paused, her voice softening. "I at least hope that I make it worthwhile." She didn't even think as her next action just... happened. She leaned in, brushing her lips against his. Seeming a bit surprised by her OWN action she backed a bit up a moment later.

"I try," he said, giving her a gentle smile. If there was anything he'd learned in the past ten years, it was how to be a better person. It's what made him join the Resistance, and led him to Hermione. She made him a better person, and while he knew other versions of himself never found her the way he did, he couldn't imagine his life being any other way, nor would he want to.

Draco didn't have time to answer her before her lips were touching his. It wasn't what he expected, not by a long shot. Not that he was going to complain, mind you. Though he wasn't quite sure what to do next. His lips parted slightly when she pulled away, wanting to say something, but being completely unable to form words. What could he even say? Everything that came to mind just seemed wrong. There was really only one thing left to do.

Leaning in closer to her, he brushed his lips to hers in return, a bit more purposeful than she had, but still gentle, just an invitation.

Her mind was berating her. Why had she done that? No seriously. WHY had she done that? She didn't just do things willy nilly. She never had - not really - and now she didn't have the time to... but here... maybe she did? Not here-here but back on the compound? These were the thoughts running through her head. She just sat there, and then suddenly he was kissing her.

And the thoughts all came back again, in flood, but they were drummed out. She kissed him back, but it only lasted so long. There was the faint sound from outside, things happening, lives going on. And she wondered if this was what it was like back home... The two of them... and why she was doing this, what it meant. What feeling-

Feelings. And that snapped her back. She pulled back again, closing her eyes, her hands finding one of his, and squeezing it. "This..." she sighed. "This may not be the right place for this..." she said it quietly, almost like she was afraid of the words. Of sending the wrong message? Signals like this had never been her strong suit. Hell the two of them were... well she didn't know what they were but here. What it meant... She managed a small, if not rather bashful smile - and she didn't do bashful. Not anymore. Where was this coming from? "World without feelings... and look at us."

His jaw clenched when she moved away, a wave of frustration moving through him for a split second. It had been going so well and then... this. Why did this have to be so hard?

"Hermione," he said then, meeting her eyes with his and squeezing her hand in return, his other still holding her face. "Stop it. Stop thinking that this isn't the right time or right place. This is where we are, and it's never going to be the right time or place if you keep over thinking and over analyzing every step we make towards each other. We are safe in this house. I am a member of the patrols, no one is watching us. The natives think I'm one of them. There is no logical reason we can't take five minutes and have something just for ourselves."

Shaking his head, he leaned in and placed his forehead against hers. "Five minutes," he said again, just the tiniest hint of a plead in his voice.
