Who: Sirius BlackUnwind & Remus LupinUnwind
What: Talking and cuddles?
When: Monday night I guess.
Where: Remus' room.
Warnings: IDK CUTENESS?

The rules said something about a curfew and not staying out without asking or having a guest for the night without getting permission. Honestly, Sirius only skimmed over them and he hadn't seen this Zeta scientist person yet so he wasn't entirely worried. Not that he would be anyway. Rules were always just obstacles to him, especially if they needed getting around for something important.

And Remus was definitely the most important. Sirius was realizing how few people actually knew about them - he'd only specifically told two other versions of himself - but that changed nothing. He definitely missed being himself and the way he knew about his life with Remus. There was still some guilt over what had happened but it wasn't the worst situation possible.

In no time at all he'd made it to Moony's room and let himself in again, already talking to make up for lost time. "I can't believe you agreed to go to this dinner, but Reg said she didn't care if I showed up with a few drinks in advance since she's not providing it for all of the Siriuses. Trouble or something."

He couldn't deny that some part of him was sad to know that Sirius had slept with somebody else while they were both younger -- perhaps it was because he'd been at a vulnerable time when he was younger, balanced between knowing whether they'd survive or not. Kissed by Sirius and ecstatic about it, but having no idea where such a thing would take him. When he'd first shown up, all he had wanted to do was kiss Sirius again, be with him -- and Sirius had been with somebody else.

And while he was a bit bruised over it, he knew he couldn't be truly angry over it. Sirius hadn't known. And Sirius hadn't meant harm, and it wasn't worth actually trying to fight over. He was too happy with the prospect of seeing him again.

"Who's is going to be besides Regina, Andromedas, and the Siriuses?" Remus asked with an idle shrug. It wasn't a true Black gathering -- not where Sirius' parents, who had so easily decided to unwind him, would have been.

"Uhh," Sirius thought about the journal entry and tried to remember the names he'd seen. "Nymphadora, Andromeda's daughter, some Tedd--." Suddenly the rest of it hit him, causing Sirius to stop where he stood.

"A Lupin was on the list. Just not any that I've ever heard of." How he'd missed it, he couldn't say. There was always so much else going on that he was hardly caught up in the details. Until now.

Remus couldn't help but grow unerringly still when Sirius mentioned that Nymphadora and a Teddy Lupin had been on the list. He hadn't purposefully kept it from Sirius. So much had happened that he hadn't had time to think about it, and some part of assumed that Sirius had also learned the same startling truth that he had. He cleared his throat together.

"Apparently there are some worlds where Nymphadora and I have a child named Teddy together," Remus said carefully. The notion was still difficult for him to wrap his head around -- partially because she was so young and partially because he just couldn't imagine not being with Sirius. He knew there were world were it wasn't possible -- but that wasn't his.

No, Sirius hadn't heard anything about any kids from any Remuses. He knew that at least one version of himself had children, but that version was actually not into women at all, ironic as it was. Other than that - either he'd been very good at avoiding the serious discussions, which was almost always, or he simply didn't care to find out.

Then again, he had told Sirilla that he wouldn't have asked to know his future if they opportunity had come up. He was avoiding telling Remus anything just because of that.

"Oh." He wasn't sure how to react or what to say. "Have you...met him? Or, one of him, if there are more than one?" He continued standing where he'd stopped, crossing his arms and once again remembering that he didn't have a single leather jacket with him.

"I've only spoken to the girl version of him," Remus said, knowing just how weird that sounded. "Her name is Theodora. She doesn't seem anything like me at all." Remus said with a faint smile. He had only met Nymphadora in passing, and she was young, but Theodora seemed to have that same spontaneous energy that Nymphadora and Sirius had.

"I know don't know many of him are here," Remus confessed. "I didn't go looking for him." He felt weird about the whole thing. Curious, of course. Because there was no way that he and Sirius were ever going to have kids in their world. They couldn't, and it wouldn't be safe. And Remus was still a werewolf at the end of the day.

Sirius couldn't help but chuckle a little quietly. The genderswap world proved to be the most confusing and took more getting used to than the rest of them. But it was interesting, that was certain.

"What is she like?" Even if he didn't know how to treat this subject, he wanted to know more. It was a Remus-kid and he was with a Remus. That's what mattered. "I'm sure the others, if they're here, will show up eventually."

"She's a wild child," Remus said with a faint smile. He had been so overwhelmed when she had started talking to him when he had first arrived. But he was glad that she had. "Bright and reckless. Defines herself as cute."

Remus crossed the room to where Sirius was still standing, and took one of his hands, unfolding his arms. He traced his fingertips lightly across Sirius' palm, looking intently down at it for a bit.

"She told me that Remuses tend to have a thing for being with Siriuses," he said, still smiling softly.

Sirius barked out a real laugh at that. "Right, that's nothing like you. Must be all from her mother, hm? Or, well, father in this case, I guess." Yes, the genderswap was definitely hard to get right. And he couldn't imagine any Remus with a kid like that.

A smile calmed over his face as he glanced down at what Remus was doing, perfectly content to let him continue.

"Oh? I did hear it was a thing from Sirilla." After a moment, he actually looked serious. "Do you - want kids?"

"I suppose so," Remus said, head still tucked down, but he was smiling enough to indicate that he was amused by the conversation.

He rubbed his thumb gently across Sirius' palm, tracing his life line, and occasionally wandering up to brush over his wrist. This was exactly what he missed. The ease that came with touching each other now, how they just knew each other. It had been hard watching Sirius flirt with other people over the journals, and it had been being so nervous around him all the time. He was glad that they had been together long enough that he didn't have to worry about those sort of things anymore.

He looked up in surprise when Sirius asked him if he wanted kids. It hadn't been a conversation they had ever had before, and from the tone of Sirius' voice, it seemed unlikely that it was a conversation they'd had even in Sirius' time.

"I can't," Remus said easily and automatically.

The full details of being fifteen hadn't stuck with him so Sirius wasn't surprised to figure he didn't exactly remember being twenty-one, either. Certain things stuck out but otherwise he could assume he was pretty wild even then. It had taken quite awhile for him to calm down even as much as he had, but the younger Remus standing before him didn't know him that way.

There had been many conversations, though the topic of really having kids never came up since, well, neither of them could just do it. They were both happy with each other. Either way, he had a lot of memories that Remus didn't share with him. Reaching out, he tucked an arm around Remus' torso to pull him closer, hand resting on the middle of his back.

"Obviously you can. Other yous have kids."

Other hims did have kids. They had taken that risk -- because there was a risk of any child fathered by him becoming a werewolf, and Remus didn't think that he'd be able to stand that. Just because other hims had been lucky didn't mean that he would. And his circumstances would be completely different. Any child he had wouldn't be the same as the others here. A Teddy clearly never existed in his world. So there was no certainty. And in the end, they couldn't raise a child in the camp. If they wanted to have a kid, they had to give up everything they were working toward.

"What about?" Remus asked, trying to deflect the conversation away from himself. "Do you have kids in other worlds?"

He let himself be pulled be closer, letting his hands come to rest against Sirius' hips, his feet brushing against the inside of Sirius'.

Sirius tilted his head to the side, letting out a sigh. He wasn't entirely sure how to go about this - he'd been learning far too much for his own good about his alternate versions and their lives. This was a topic he would bring up again for Remus' sake, but for the time being he was fine to switch the focus.

"Well, I think only one other me has kids. There was some epidemic or something and he married Molly," Sirius gave a shrug, eyes flickering back to look at Remus. "It seems that in most worlds I end up...not living too long. And not having kids before that." Not that he was particularly interested in it anyway.

Molly. He honestly didn't know which was stranger. Sirius with Molly or him with Nymphadora. Both certainly seemed to spring from circumstances radically beyond anything that Remus could ever imagine in their world. He hadn't seen either of them in years.

And when Sirius mentioned that he didn't live long in most worlds, Remus suddenly felt guilty for ever thinking that the nickname 'Ancientfoot' was funny. He suddenly couldn't help but worry that his Sirius was marked as ancient because he was the one that lived the longest out of all of them.

He settled for not saying anything, but wrapped his arms around Sirius in return. He rested his head against Sirius' shoulder, and shut his eyes.

The more Sirius thought about it, the weirder it became. Nymphadora was his cousin's daughter and that's who Remus ended up with in some other world. Lots of crazy family connections just continued to pop up, the next always more shocking.

Sirilla told him he was the oldest, had possibly already outlived her, and that was how he got the nickname. He thought it was nothing at first but it turned out to have a rather depressing background. It was just something else for Sirius to not think about. His own arms returned the gesture as he craned his neck to kiss Remus' temple.

"I've told myself I'm not going to give anything away for you, but you weren't too happy when I last you." It was almost funny now, only in a dark sort of way.

Remus shut his eyes for a moment when he felt the light press of Sirius' lips against his temple. Even though their discussion was far from happy at the moment, he did feel safe when he was pressed tightly up against Sirius.

"Why's that?" Remus murmured in response, turning his head so that he could look up at Sirius. They'd discuss just a little of what Sirius' life had been like so far into his future. Remus hadn't pressed -- and then they'd both been younger, so there'd been no opportunity. But he was curious as to why Sirius was bringing something up now.

A laugh pushed his lips apart, one that was edging on embarrassed like Sirius Black might actually have some shame. It was rare but every once and awhile he laughed nervously at a situation. He shifted Remus slowly so that he could take his wrists and lead him over to the bed.

"C'mere," he muttered quietly, sitting back with his legs up, just enough room for Remus to lay with him. "I was leaving to go get Harry who--well, had made a remarkable name for himself. People would be interested in him and I insisted on going alone."

Remus followed Sirius to the bed, moving without hesitation. He slid onto the bed as well, letting himself rest against Sirius. He didn't entirely relax though, intent as he was on listening to what Sirius had to say. He knew that he had gone to get Harry. He knew that something had happened to Lily and James (and it hurt his heart just to think of it, their best friends gone from their lives for forever.)

Remus stilled a little further when Sirius said that he had insisted on going alone -- which made it seem as if there had been some sort of argument over whether or not Sirius should go alone.

"Why didn't I go with you?" Remus asked, his voice just as soft.

Sirius idly draped his arms around Remus, his back propped up just enough against several pillows. When he felt the tension, he started moving his hands along Remus' side in some attempt at comfort. No matter what they were talking about, he wanted Moony to feel all right if great wasn't possible.

"Because I didn't want you to." Sirius had a suspicion that a younger Remus wouldn't react any better to the topic. "There's no point in us both going. If something happened - if someone came after us - I wouldn't want them to get all of us. Someone needs to stay behind and help out."

The corners of his mouth dropped in a frown that wasn't the least bit welcome. "Plus, I'm reckless enough for the both of us. I couldn't lose you."
