Who: Teddy & Andromeda (BDH)
What: talking
When: Friday
Where: Teddy's (& Victoire's) house in Greek World.
Warnings: emotions are highly likely.

Andromeda's initial reaction to the unknown person asking questions about her world had not been a good one. Panic and dread and guilt had washed over her all at once, but she had taken note of the girl's handwriting from writing back and forth with Dennis, and notified him immediately. Whether that was the right thing to do, she didn't know, but she had not the faintest idea what to say to the girl. Having someone prying into the details of their world had not happened since she'd gotten here, though, and it was not a pleasant surprise.

She was worried about what might be said, and what might not be said, as well. And then... oh, then her Theodore had replied, and he had given no information that might lead back to her. He had protected her. That took away her paranoia somewhat, but made her guilt much worse. She loved her grandson so much, and she had not only betrayed him, but put him in the position of protecting his guilty grandmother. Salazar, she had been awful to him.

She'd been unable to sleep after reading that, and thus ended up baking all night, with what she had purchased from the Greek markets. After training, she put the biscuits and scones in a basket and headed over to Theodore's house before she could second-guess herself. She owed him a real apology and a thank you for protecting her, and she needed to do it in person, to look him in the eye. She owed him that much, and more.

Taking a deep breath, she adjusted the laurel crown on her head and knocked on his door. She hoped he would be home, and preferably alone; much as she wanted to meet and get to know his wife, she would much prefer to do this with Theodore alone.

As luck would have it, Teddy was alone at the moment. Victoire had gone out for something...the market, Dominique, he hadn't caught what she'd said. That was one of the great things about them, though, was that they didn't need to keep tabs on each other. The main reason they even let each other know what they were up to was out of respect for the other. It worked, them understanding that, even though they were partners, they were still individuals.

He hadn't been expecting his grandmother to come by—they'd been distant recently—so when he opened the door and saw her familiar, loving face, he couldn't help the surprise that passed over his expression.

"Gram, hey," he said, composing himself and stepping to the side so that she could come into the house, if that was what she wanted. "Come in. Is everything," he hesitated, hating the awkwardness and tension that still hung between them. "Is everything alright?" Lifting a hand, he ran his finger over his head, trying to find something to do. Talking to her gave him nervous energy and he didn't know how to expel it. Fidgeting seemed best.

"Hello, Theodore," Andromeda said, and then corrected herself. "Teddy."

Her composure remained intact, so far, but that was not necessarily to her credit. She smiled at him, and stepped inside, holding out the basket. "I baked too much, as usual. I thought you'd like some."

She still didn't know what all of his favorites were at this age, and that was her own fault, for not asking. But he had loved her baking when he was little, and she hoped that was still true. Taking a deep breath, she added, "And I wanted to say... I owe you an apology. A real one." She paused briefly, looking him in the eye, though her gaze was sad. "I am sorry, Teddy. For the way I've disappointed you, and failed you, and for the mess I helped create, that you had to clean up. You never should have had to do any of that, and you certainly never should have had to protect me. It should be my job to protect you."

Teddy couldn't help the smile that etched in the corners of his lips when she called him Teddy. He'd kept hoping that sometime she would start calling him Teddy—that was what people he was close to called him and she was absolutely one of those people.

"Yeah, absolutely. Glad you came now before Vic can steal them from me and gobble them all up," he said, taking the basket from her and peeking into it to see what was in it. Truth be told, he didn't have a favorite when it came to her baking because he loved everything she made so equally. "These look great, Gram, really." And it wasn't her fault or the baked goods that his tone lacked in enthusiasm. He was giving her all of it that he could muster but this whole Compound thing seemed to be draining him.

When she started apologizing, though, his whole attitude changed. He was continually torn between anger and hurt and just wanting to forgive her and protect her from things like Marie asking about the war. Right now, though, he just wanted to not be angry about something, to not feel negatively about something. So he set the basket down and pulled his grandmother into a hug.

"We all fuck things up, Gram," he said, not bothering to censor himself, "You made some bad mistakes, yeah, but I'm not disappointed in you and you've never failed me." Shaking his head, his chin nudged her shoulder. "I love you, Gram. You're my family."

Using his nickname was a concession, a surrender of sorts. More than anything, Andromeda missed him, missed having someone to care for, and the fact that he was old enough to take care of himself had not helped the distance between them. She could see that he was feeling down, and she interpreted it as a negative response to her presence, even though it wasn't.

His words, then, came as a surprise-- a pleasant one, but a surprise nonetheless. She wrapped her arms around him tightly, tears stinging her eyes, and rested a hand against the back of his head as the other rubbed over his shoulders, a comforting gesture. "I also wanted to say," she said, voice only shaking a little bit, "Thank you."

She held onto him for a while, hoping he wouldn't pull away, and then pulled back a bit, hands on his shoulders. "And that I am proud of you, Teddy. So unbelievably proud of the man you've become."
