Who: Theo & Victorien (swap)
What: booze & snuggles
When: Sunday, after Renee's arrival
Where: Theo's house
Warnings: TBD

For the most part, Victorien liked this place. The thing he liked most about it -- the thing that had almost immediately stopped him from even questioning whether it was good or bad -- was the fact that Theo had parents here. It was fun for him, too; he had plenty of family here, even if they weren't from his universe, and there was no end of things to do. But he still probably would have harbored some objections to the compound, if not for the fact that having parents was something that never would have happened for Theo back home.

So he'd ended up arguing with his scientist over the morality of a Christmas gift, of all things, instead of his actual existence here. He'd been aware of how slightly weird that was even as he was doing it, but he'd ignored it. It had not yet occurred to him that there could be an even more serious downside to this place: the fact that Theo's parents had to find out that they died, and that their daughter didn't know them. That hadn't been getting in the way of anything with her dad, so he hadn't even noticed; it was only coming up now that her mum was here.

And of course, now that they were faced with the problem, Victorien felt rather stupid for not anticipating it. He knew how to calm Theo down, though. Writing didn't work very well, but a big jug of booze (which he'd been really wanting to try, anyway -- how many people could say they'd actually had ancient Greek wine?) and some company ought to do the trick.

"Theo?" he called out, opening the door to her house. He shut it behind him, then added unnecessarily, "It's me."

“Nope. You’d probably be the first eaten, too. You’d feed more people,” she responded, poking at his chest.

“Not to mention Sirilla and Aunt Jane and Uncle Luke. My parents too, of course. There’s a lot of people here from our world, just not a ton of Weasleys just yet.”

As soon as she’d admitted to missing him, she’d been concerned that saying so would bring up a conversation that she wasn’t sure she was ready to have just yet. But it wasn’t really addressed, and there was a part of her too that was a little frowny at that. She didn’t belabor the point, though. “They’re all so great, man. I can’t even get over it.”

"Yeah, pretty sure I'd be among the first targets if it came to cannibalism," V said, mock sadly. "Whether we're talking cannibal apocalypse or a Donner Party situation. And if we were freezing to death, people would probably want to cut me open and use my skin for a blanket to keep warm. It kind of sucks to be a giant sometimes."

He kind of doubted he'd be nice enough to just let people kill and eat him, if it came to that, though he supposed it depended on who the people were. With any luck, he'd never actually have to find out.

Nodding, he said, "Yeah, I know. I don't know them back home, though, you know? So even though they're from our world and part of my family, it's not really the same thing. It's nice to have people here that I know." He looked at her. "It is really cool that they're here, though, all the people we never got to meet. Especially for you."

He still wasn't touching on the topic of her missing him, not because he hadn't noticed it or because he was avoiding talking about it, but because he didn't have anything much to say on the subject. They'd been apart, so he naturally assumed that she had missed him; even if she didn't miss being in a relationship, he still figured that she would miss him as a friend. On its own, the statement didn't seem like anything particularly significant, and he wasn't going to assume that it was. It was much easier to just deal with her at face value, even though he knew full well she kept quite a bit hidden.

“Oh, you totally would be. You’d better just hope our next stop isn’t like… Easter Island,” she responded, laughing. When he continued, her laughter did as well. “Girl, you know it. If I were freezing to death, you’d better believe I’d be all up inside of you in a heartbeat. And we could probably fit two of me, at least in you. Maybe two and a half.”

She nodded at that. “Yeah, I totally get that. It’s weird having all of these parents, you know. I’m happy, but it’s not like… I don’t know, it’s hard to explain. I love them all, and they’re fantastic and beautiful. But it’s not like I’m young enough to be raised anymore. So it’s great having them, but they’re more like friends than anything. They’re so amazing, though.” She’d built bonds with so many of them, too, and she wouldn’t have traded that for anything in the world.
