Who: Elsa Krauss and anyone else who might want to join in. Where: New York City - inside of a bank. When: Day 3 What: As part of her effort to start a real life (as opposed to a life traveling with the freak show) Elsa has set out to open an account for herself. She doesn’t know just yet that she’s walking into a robbery.
What a pleasant experience this had all been for Elsa thus far! Her parents had never been the sort to give her lectures on how terrible people could be, but they had always been sure to tell her not to rely solely on the kindness of others. Of course she had come to New York prepared with the money she and her parents had earned over the years they worked for the show. She was prepared just in case she wound up on her own, with only herself to rely on.
Not having to pay rent had been such a relief. Elsa really did consider herself to be very lucky that Charles was such a good guy. Since he wouldn’t take money, she had pledged to be useful whenever she could. Today, though, she was busy exploring and taking on chores her parents had tried to teach her about while they were still alive.
Completing her tasks had brought her to the city, another exciting new thing for her. Though the show had taken her all across America and even as far north as certain parts of Canada, Elsa had never seen giant, bustling cities. She had seen major roadways before, but never the interior of a metropolis with the tall buildings and busy streets. The show was always set up in fields on the outskirts of actual towns. Elsa imagined that she looked like an obvious tourist as she gawked at the sights with wide eyes and a smile on her face.
Growing up there were two obvious options for Elsa. She could either stay with the show, taking care of the animals and doing basic tasks in exchange for a place to sleep and a small salary, or she could have branched out and integrated herself into normal, human society. The latest turn of events had made the latter choice seem like the right choice and if she was to stick to it she would have to make an effort. The first step had been taken care of. She’d found a place to live. Now she was off to set up a bank account to properly save money for the future.
As she stepped up close to the bank a polite man in a pinstripe suit held a door open for Elsa, nodding with a small smile on his face as she stepped inside and murmured a quiet ‘thank you.’ Everything looked so nice. The decor was impressive and, truthfully, a little intimidating. Elsa looked around to try and see where she should go to discuss matters of opening an account.
