"I did. I bid on three people and got one of them. Of course, I don't know what he'll think of a spa sort of date, but we'll see how it goes. I'll enjoy it, at least." Because gods only knew she hadn't had a massage since forever and she'd probably fall in love or hate with the masseuse who got her.

"I thought about placing a bid on you -- Beater, right? -- but then I figured I should probably stick with people I at least sort of know." Next time she might branch out, though.

"With any luck, he'll take the good luck for what it is, and the company as well." He knew he was going to do his best with his own date - with any luck, since they'd be without their beaters' bats, there would be less chance of injury on the yacht.

"That's all right, no offense taken. There were enough of us to go around. And yes, I'm a beater for the Bats - it's my first year on the starting lineup. The name's Vikesh Moon, and you'd be?"

She flashed him a smile, pleased by the implied compliment though she rarely put stock in strangers' words like that.

"I'm Pandora Montgomery, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said, holding out her hand automatically. "You play a good game. I listened to the one going up against the Magpies the other day, it was exciting," she said. "Beating has always been my favorite position." She still swung a bat just to work out, at times. She tended to keep up with the Beaters of teams more than any other position.

He shook her hand and nodded at the name and the compliment. "Thank you. It wasn't my best game, but we do the best we can. Finbar was really impressive that day, though."

He tilted his head, curious at her comment about beating. "Have you ever played, in school maybe? We might have played one another before."

"He was. He's really good, I was pleased to hear he'd moved to London," she said. She kept up on the Quidditch gossip though she didn't believe even half of it, though it often amused her what people came up with and what they would believe. Sometimes the more absurd it was, the easier people swallowed it.

"I did. I was Beater for Slytherin for a couple of years, before they pretty much decided that bigger was better and you had to be a boy to be a good player," she said frankly. She'd been a wicked Beater and good despite her smaller size, but a lot of people seemed to go with the brawny made better beaters.

"He's been through a lot lately. He really deserves a break, and London's a nice enough place." Vikesh liked it a little better than he did Dublin, where he'd spent a few years growing up. The Moon side of his family were all thereabouts and he did enjoy visiting, but there was so much more ethnic diversity in London, and his temple was here as well.

He shook his head. The attitude about male vs female players had been one he'd never understood - every person had gifts, skills, and abilities, so why should gender matter? After all, did Siva not have both masculine and feminine sides to their divinity? "I've never understood that argument, especially from Slytherin. If you're ambitious, wouldn't you want the best players whether or not they're boys? Cho was a brilliant seeker, I can't imagine our team without her."

"I've a fondness for the place, anyway. At least, I keep coming back to it," she said with a faint grin. It wasn't always a good thing, the place held a lot of bad memories as well as good. But it seemed like it was where she was supposed to be, most of the time.

Her grin held a bit of an edge but not against him. "I agree. But sometimes money talks better than sense, and at least when it comes to beating, apparently my House thought in terms of brawn being more ambitious." Though Beating could take a fair amount of plotting, in her experience, when you decided who to send a Bludger at and when.

"Then those who choose money over skill will eventually get what they deserve. What goes around, comes around." The phrase was an overly simplistic explanation of the concept of karma, but often it fit.

"So, you've told me you wanted to be a beater but couldn't due to circumstances. So what is it you do, Ms. Montgomery?"

"Yeah, well, the Slytherin team kind of sucked for the most part after that," she said dryly. Okay, not completely, but they never did do great, in her opinion. They could have done so much better. Her smile sharpened a little. "Karma's a bitch," she said succinctly.

"I'm a Charms mistress," she said, pushing her hair behind her ear. "I work down at Inside and Out, where we sell all kinds and varieties of charmed items. I also do custom work, and runic warding." And at some point security work, but that would come later.

He couldn't help a small grin that on some may have been smug - and might have been on Vikesh as well but he would have never admitted it. "I didn't mind that at all, made it all the easier to beat them on the pitch."

He nodded. Some of Ballycastle's staff had tried convincing him he needed better security at his and Terry's flat, but he often refused because there wasn't exactly much to steal there, at least not of Vikesh's. Though... "I don't suppose you know of any runes or charms that could prevent the casting of specific spells, do you?" His main thought was of that game where he and the other male players had ended up naked on their broomsticks, a game he did not wish to repeat.

Dora tilted her head curiously. "What kind of spells?" she asked curiously. There were all sorts of things to prevent certain things, but she'd need a little more information too. "It would depend on what precisely you're trying to prevent and all." With him being a pro player, she really was curious about what he could possibly want.

He couldn't help a touch of heat that lit up his cheeks, yet controlled his reactions to the best of his abilities. "Some of the fans can be a little overzealous at times. The other week, the robes of every male player were 'disappeared', and while I'm not opposed to nudity in general, I am when in front of thousands of people on a broom in mid-air."

Was he blushing? Pandora did believe he was. She resisted the urge to grin at the sight, though, knowing from experience how delicate men's egos were. She blinked at the explanation, managing to keep her lips from twitching at the image that brought up. Not a bad one at all, she thought, though certainly embarrassing. "So you want something to keep clothes on while in the stadium, then?" she asked to clarify. "Just yours, or everyone's?"
