Sleepover
WHO: Justin and Ernie
WHEN: Sunday Night after Queer-Topia
WHERE: Ernie's flat
WHAT: Justin and Ernie chat about recent developments.
RATING: R. Might mention sex.
STATUS:

Right after Queer-Topia, Justin Apparated home briefly to gather a few things before going to Ernie's for the night. It had been agreed on at the meeting that he'd sleep over there so they could discuss while being comfortable and without prying ears and eyes.

It was a quick thing though, as all he needed to do was to grab his 'sleepover bag' with his pajama bottom and shirt for the night, hygiene products and clean clothes for the next day. He could have miniaturized it for easier travel, but there were things Justin still liked to do by himself and without magic. Before leaving, he grabbed a few things to snack on while at his friend's (always food) and Apparated at Ernie's.

"I've got food." He told the blond as soon as he saw him.

The moment Ernie got home, he stripped out of his clothes and into a nice set of yellow-and-black satin pyjamas (yes, he did take the Hufflepuff thing a little far at times, but they looked good on him!), turned off most of the lights in his flat but leaving on the funky strip of neon lighting that lined the tiny kitchen, and dove into his big bed. It was so nice and comfortable, and could easily fit at least five people as it took up most of the small raised area.

He was just casting a charm on his alarm to wake him up the next morning when Justin arrived. "Brilliant, bring it over!" Ernie was never one to turn down food, even if in bed. "Here, I'll get the butterbeer too." One spell to open the icebox and another to accio the drinks, and he had them within seconds.

Justin arrived in the bedroom and one of his eyebrows raised. "Oooh, looking good there, Macmillan. Waiting for someone." He asked jokingly before tossing his bag on the bed, careful not to have it land on his friend. Once he opened it he tilted his head on the side. I've got candy and crisps. I'll put my jammies on though, I feel overdressed."

He left the bag there for Ernie to go through and went to the bathroom to change. No matter how close he was to his mate, he was still a bit of a prude when it came of getting naked. Once out in his blue and grey bottoms and grey shirt he chuckled as he slipped under the covers, pushing the bag in between their legs for the food.

"As a matter of fact, I am, and if you're lucky, maybe I'll let you watch from the cupboard."

When Justin left, Ernie opened up the bag and took out the bag of crisps. He popped the tops off of the bottles of butterbeer and set one on the other side of the bed for when his best mate returned, then settled back with his hand in the bag. He hoped he never grew too old to do things like this with his friends, and that when he someday met someone to start a life with, that they'd accept his close friendships because he didn't want to go without them.

"So, comfortable? Did you remember to bring your teddy?" he teased, tossing a crisp over at Justin.

Justin gave Ernie a: Ha, ha, ha, when he was asked if hr brought his teddy, then he shook his head. "You are my teddy. No need for the lesser thing." He replied then ate the crisp. The Butterbeer was a nice touch and he smiled. "Thanks for tonight." He said sincerely.

Both of them were single, so this type of thing wasn't a problem, but Justin was always a little uncomfortable doing this when Ernie had a boyfriend. Not because there was something between them, but because he was always a little afraid that he'd be upset. Not that Ernie would ever accept that.

Anyway, Justin sat there, relaxing slightly after a long day. "I have the day off tomorrow. I'm bloody happy." He said with a frown. Anything to avoid talking about Seamus or Wayne..

"You're just saying that because I'm a little fluffy around the middle," Ernie joked, patting his stomach which was a little on the heavy side, but he really did carry it well.

He was glad to hear Justin relax. His friend needed to after the long hours of work, not to mention all of the other messes. He really hoped Justin was telling the truth and that he was happy. Ernie moved so that his head could rest on Justin's shoulder, then popped another crisp in his mouth.

"Lucky you. Some of us have to work, but if you're nice and promise to lock up, you can sleep in. You know my home is your home."

"Pft, you're just fluffy enough." He said, shaking his head. Justin himself was rather lean and bony and Azkaban hadn't helped much. Even though he had been feeding himself steadily since then, he had always remained skinny.

"I always lock up." He countered, fishing inside the bag for a crisp too. Justin was really safety conscious when it came to this and wouldn't leave without locking up. "And yeah, I have two days off because I'm too valuable on weekends." Was it a joke? Kinda. But it was true that he tended to cover weekends. "I missed Battlescars though." Not that he would have said anything though.

He kissed the top of Ernie's head since it was so close. "Hmmmm." He sighed softly.

"If you don't want to work weekend, you should really set some boundaries with them. It's all right to turn down shifts sometimes, you know."

He relaxed and sunk even further into his mattress. It had been a long enough day, or at least it felt that way, and he could so easily just close his eyes and fall into sleep. "So," he said a little sleepily, "what was up with you tonight?"

"Well, I don't mind, really. I get days of anyway and they are quiet days just about anywhere I go." He shrugged and settled into bed. Ernie asked what was up with him and he sighed. Yeah, he had hoped that Ernie would forget.

"Many things." He whispered. "Something just clicked a little while ago when we were talking about relationships with Susan." He hadn't considered opening himself up to someone before, not to the point of sharing such an intimacy. "And I might be seeing things that are not."

"Relationships with Susan?" Ernie had to think a moment before he finally remembered. "Do you mean Dean's party? That was a few weeks ago, and it's still getting to you?"

He took a swig of butterbeer before tucking another crisp into his mouth, then looked up at Justin with curious eyes. "So what are you seeing?"

"Um, the cuddling party." He told Ernie, fairly sure he hadn't heard any mention of Dean that day. "Yeah, it is." It was working it's way into his brain and his heart.

"It's just the way things happens, you know." He shifted so he could look at Ernie while he explained. "See, we were watching a movie the other Saturday morning and we were cuddling, which happens often enough, but it was.." He chewed his bottom lip. "It wasn't the same. It was different and I don't know how to explain it, there was.. there was.. I don't know, more kissing and just.."

He sighed and shook his head. "Then he came up with that whole thing I told you about and I was too surprised to answer anything good to it, but by the time I did, the momentum was gone and.. and seriously it got awkward."

"Shite, that's right. I got it mixed up with Dean's birthday. I knew it was in the Roost, though. Too many things in my brain."

Ernie groaned to himself and rubbed at his forehead with salty fingers. "Merlin, Justin, what are you getting into? You're getting feelings for a bloke you said only wants to shag? I love you, but this smells like a disaster to me. Did he say something to you this morning? Is that why you needed a hug like that at the Topia thing?"

"No, no. Nothing happened except the other night at the pub." He shook his head. "I'm not getting feelings, Ernie. I just got excited at the idea that it could be more, but it won't be so that's it." It was done and there was nothing else he could do about it. "I just needed a hug because too many things are happening all at once and I'm unsettled."

Ernie sighed and shook his head. Justin was in denial, which wasn't completely surprising. He put his butterbeer on the floor next to the bed and moved the crisps to Justin's other side, then rolled over so he could wrap his arms around his friend's waist in a warm hug.

"There, is that better?" he asked with his face partially smothered by Justin's chest.

Justin brought his hand to Ernie's hair and stroke the blond locks, chuckling. "I'm doing okay." He said softly. "I think."

"So you never told me how that outing with Wayne went, only the part where I told him you were gay." He said, chuckling, because he didn't feel like talking about Seamus anymore. He'd need to owl him though.

Ernie shrugged. He was comfortable so there was really no point in letting go, and it wasn't like it would have been the first time he'd ever fallen asleep cuddled against Justin.

"We ate McDonald's - it wasn't that bad, actually. And I still can't believe he's a dad - can you? Having a kid so young? Merlin, I'd like to be a dad one day, but to have it sprung on you like that. I'm definitely glad I'm gay."

Justin made a face at the McDonald's. He had never liked it and probably never would. Besides, he much preferred having a real Angus burger any day. "Damn Rhys looks just like him too." He had seen the picture and immediately had found the likeness of them quite striking. "Has that same, I don't know how to explain it though.." He kept stroking Ernie's hair and he chuckled. "And that really explains why he didn't come back. Shows how good of a man he really is too."

"I want kids too, one day." But first, he'd have to start dating and that was quite difficult for him. He was doing fine right now wasn't he?

"Well, it does explain it and it doesn't all at once. I mean, wouldn't he have wanted his son to know all about us and our world here? But then there's also the way some people feel about single parents, fathers and such." He sighed, leaning his head into Justin's stroking as if he were a large cat. "Either way, it's complicated, and I hate to say it, but I'm glad it's him and not me."

He bit his lower lip, feeling a little overwhelmed with feelings at the idea of having children. "On the one hand, we're still young enough, but what if I wait too long though? And... I admit, sometimes I wonder if I had a baby, with a surrogate or something, then maybe my dad would accept me, you know?"

Justin sighed. "I does and it doesn't I know, but.." He wasn't sure how to explain how he could understand that Wayne would just leave. "What else could he have done? He wanted to be around, so he couldn't come back just like that. He was too young to Apparate, couldn't use magic to have a job in our world. Makes sense that he grabbed the first job he could, the closest to home."

"It got complicated because Rhys' mum is a Muggle." He was pretty sure it didn't help.

Fathers were a can of worms that Justin and Ernie didn't open too often, especially not together even though they understood each other in that way. "I don't know, maybe?" He said softly. "I know I don't want to wait too long myself, but I know it won't fix anything with mine. I'm still gay and I'm still a wizard and I'll never be what he wanted me to be."

He kissed the top of Ernie's head. "I do hope yours will feel differently though." He wanted this so bad for Ernie. He really didn't want his best mate to suffer like this.

"Yeah, I know," Ernie replied. "It just would have been nice to have him around, that's all."

He nodded, closing his eyes. He shouldn't have brought it up, they both had issues, but with all the talk of fathers it had been pretty prominent in his mind. "Who am I kidding, it wouldn't change a thing. And anyway, I wouldn't have one just to prove a point or be accepted. He's got to learn to do that on his own, and if he doesn't, it's his bloody loss. The same with yours, who should consider himself lucky to have a wizard for a son, or just plain you for a son."

The words were genuine even if all Ernie really wanted was to have his father's love again.

"I know, believe me." Justin had wanted really bad for Wayne to be around, but sometimes things don't go as planned.

"It's his loss." He said agreeing with Ernie on that. "We can't force them to love us the way we are, so we better just love ourselves and each other." That was why he believed that he made his own family, with his friends. "You guys are my family, more than they are." At least his cousins were more open minded. And Riley.

But still, at least he had his former classmates that understood him.

Ernie's nod was interrupted by a large yawn. "All right, you know how to turn off the lights. I'm going to sleep, and you're my pillow."

He allowed his eyes to close and smiled softly, at peace with his best friend at his side. "Love you, Just," he murmurred sleepily.

Justin smiled and turned off the light once he had put the food away. "Night, Ernie." He told his friend, hugging him tight as they settled into bed for the night.

It took him a while to fall asleep though, his mind running with a bunch of thoughts for a while.
