Theodore,

They're brilliant! I think The Wasp Factory will be perfect to bring to work and read when it's slow and I have a break. Thank you.

How did your week go? Did the parent rats make it?

I'm pleased you like it, I wasn't sure. It's not the type of reading many people are into. No thanks needed.

It's gone. They're still struggling - I took them home to make sure they made it through but they're not eating and when they're not sleeping they're fighting. Prognosis is not good.

Thank you for asking. How was yours, how have you been?

Theo,

I'm always up to try new things, and while thanks aren't required, they're still nice to give, especially for such a thoughtful gesture.

I'm sorry to hear that. My Bert has been depressed at times, but he's never lost a child before. Some of my patients, however, have, and it has been a very difficult process, and one that's very individual to the person. There's really no one-size-fits-all solution to mourning. It sounds to me like you're giving them excellent support and not allowing them to be alone. Sometimes, that's all we can do.

I've had a good week and weekend. Today we celebrated a friend's birthday and it was nice to have everyone around with smiles on their faces and dancing and eating. Back to work tomorrow, though.

Any exciting plans for the week ahead?

Ernie

Much like a friendly chat from a guy with nothing to gain on a bad day.

Hmmm. Thank you for your reassurances. I suppose I'll never feel like I've done enough until they're out of the woods, if they ever get there.

My wishes to your friend, I'm glad you had a good one.

None per se, nothing out of the usual. I'm comfortable with routine.
Do you dislike working?

Theo,

There's always something to gain even if it's just a new friend.

Welcome to the life of a healer, full of second guesses, doubt, and praying you've done something to help.

Routine can be good and comfortable, though it's nice to shake it up sometimes. I love my work and the people there, but it's not very exciting and there's often tons of paperwork which is tedious. It's worth it, but like I just said, it's beginning to feel routine and I want the old spark back.

If you're ever in the mood for a change in routine, well, I'm free most evenings if ever you'd like to get together.

When you're right, you're right.

I'm sorry. How do you cope?

Missing a spark? I know what you mean

What do you-
What does that mean? Oh? What do you want?

Theo,

Of course, I'm always right! (All right, I'm kidding, but most of the time anyway.)

It's all right. You either learn to cope with it or you get out of healing. Having friends I can come to helps, too.

Yeah, the spark that made every day a new adventure, when now it's getting to be the same day in, day out. Same faces and places. I was never a big morning person, but when I first started in the ward, every day was filled with possibilities.

No pressure, just saying I'd be available if you'd like to do anything. I'll leave it in your hands.

It sounds tough. But it also sounds like you're tough enough.

Maybe it's time to move on? Or maybe it's just a slump to get through? I don't know. I haven't had this job for very long.

But Where?

Theo,

I try, and in the end, it's all worth it.

I'm not sure I want to move on yet, but maybe in a year or so - that would give me plenty of time to figure out what I'd like to do and where. But I do think it's a slump as you say. I probably just need a change of point of view - I'll keep looking in the hopes of finding it. As for the menagerie, how long have you been there? Is that where you want to be, or is there another goal on your horizon?

Wherever you feel comfortable. Maybe back at Finnigan's, or a cafe on Diagon, or if you're up to an adventure, go someplace on the Muggle side of things. Have you ever seen a movie?

Is it?

It's good that you have goals. Some direction. Roads to take, that's good.
No, I've been working here about a couple of years, maybe. I like working there, I prefer like animals. They were good enough to take me on too.

I don't feel comfortable on the Muggle side of things. I've never been to a movie. But, I wouldn't mind meeting again at Finnigan's
Which day is best for you?

Theo,

That's good, then. Liking where you work is the most important thing, in my opinion. And sometimes, I guess it's not work but life outside work that needs the spark, and it will hopefully translate into work too.

That's all right, not everyone is. Finnigan's is nice with all the different areas. Maybe we could meet up in the Corner? Any night but Tuesday is good for me - I've healer duty with the Duelling Club that night.

Ernie,

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully things personal and professional will turn around soon?

I do get concerned when speaking my mind on the subject. It's easy for people to assume The Corner is good, I have a book to return.
I can do Monday, tomorrow?

Theo,

One can only hope, but as long as I've got good friend, I'm happy.

Monday would be nice. Maybe around 7 o'clock?
