Q-Topia
I am Romeo Matías García-Davies. Some of you may know me from our time together at Hogwarts. Some may know me from my job cooking at Finnigan's. Some may not know me at all.

I am queer.

If I had to define my gender, I would call myself somewhere between gender fluid and gender neutral. I look like what society would categorize as "a boy", but I do not feel like one. Nor do I feel like a girl. I am floating somewhere comfortable in the middle, a metaphoric foot in the male camp because of my presentation, but the rest of my being gloriously free of the gender binary imposed upon us by society.

If I had to define my sexuality, I would call myself definitely pan...something. I don't see gender as a barrier to love or attraction. With that said I don't necessarily know if I am pansexual... perhaps I am simply panromantic and asexual.

So that is me.

I know there are other people out there who, like me, don't conform to the neat little boxes the world would like to put us in. Maybe you don't fit the gender binary. Maybe you aren't neatly heterosexual. I would like to start a group for all of us to gather, support each other, and talk about the particular issues we face. This is not your school-era Gay-Straight Alliance. This is a utopia. A Queer-topia, if you will. And it is coming soon, if there is enough interest.

(You can make your replies private to me if you are nervous/cautious/not out.)

Comfortable seating please? Not hard backed folding chairs but perhaps armchairs and beanbags, that sort of thing. And a projector so that I can show a movie, is that possible? I want the first meeting to be as low key as possible, and I think a movie for the first time we meet up is a very no-pressure sort of situation. It means that people don't feel like they're expected to bare their souls upon first sight.

Sorry, sir.

Comfortable seating is easy enough. I'll have to ask Dominic about the projector, but I'm not sure that's going to be possible. There's a lot of magic in Monument Alley - and Finnigan's is pretty bad even on its own. I really like the idea, though. What film did you have in mind?

I'll pass it on to Dominic, but I'm afraid he might say it's not possible - or that he'd need more time to work on it. I'll see if I can think of anything else you could do as an ice breaker if that doesn't work out.

What did I just say?

If I can't manage a movie, I'll arrange some sort of games instead.

I'm sorry sir but I'm afraid if I stop my mother will come find me and drag me home by my ear so she can wash my mouth out with soap.

Excellent.

Bryn calls me 'boss', how about that? If not, 'sir' is fine, I suppose. I saw the word 'mother' and I understand.

I don't mean to be difficult... boss. It's just I was brought up to believe that... Well. Have you ever heard of the four levels of respect?

I haven't, but like I said I get it. If 'sir' is what's going to make your mam happy then that's what we'll go with.

I can't believe I'm doing this, but If Dominic can't do it, I might know a few charms to make it work if it's a Muggle thing and someone can explain to me what it is and how it works. And if I can get ahold of one to examine.

Do you already have a projector thing, or were you looking into getting one for your meeting?

When do you plan to have this meeting? And, if sooner rather than later, is it possible to get it to Finnigan's at lunchtime so I may borrow it to begin working on it?

Sunday night, if possible, and yes I can do this.

Alright, then I shall come by for lunch today. I am blond, average height, usually sit in The Corner, and I often have a book with me and/or can be seen reading. Just so you have something more to go on than "that bloke who offered to help who's here for lunch, but there are loads of people here for lunch," should we not cross paths immediately.

Really? That'd be amazing. Maybe you and Dominic can work together, he's muggleborn and would know better than I do how it works on that end. And then he'd known how to do it again and I could have movie nights!

When is good for you?

On weekdays, after work/any time after five, unless I have to work late (which I'd let him know in advance if that ends up being the case). Weekends are generally more lenient. However, if this is meant to be sooner rather than later, I can come by during lunch to start working on things. And if I can get ahold of one of those projector things, I can always tinker with it during breaks.

Do you have any specific charms or wards on your pub? I think knowing that will help a lot, too.

Dominic's usually here after work. I'll owl him and get him to get in touch.

Loads. Let's see: Standard wards against intruders whenever we're closed; a permanent charm to make the Corner quieter; whatever magic Dominic has going on in The Roost; my flat has wards to keep anyone except me and two friends out.

Dominic can tell you about most of those, too, if you need more details.

Yes, please do let him know to get in touch with me about this.

I do think the more information I have, the easier it will be to help figure out how best to make the device work in that setting. And thank you for the information you have provided already.
