Journal: Melinda + Owl: Delivery to Oliver
Due to false accusations unforseen circumstances, Sweet Nothings will be closed for the rest of the day.

[Private to Cho]
You may want to stay at the office for a while, just until I make this stop somehow.

Maybe I should go to the cottage? No, too close to Muggles and I can't muffle that many Howlers

[Private to Cormac]
I've strengthened the sound proofing ward on the rooftop, but you may want to do the same on your side. I'm sorry.

[Urgent Owl to Oliver Wood]
I take it you didn't get to read the article before it was published, and if you did.

I know you have practice right now and a match tomorrow, but you may want to take a look at today's Prophet.

I'll kill them.

I'll take that woman's quill and set it to stab her in her bloody eyes.

Do you think they league will sack me if I say it's justified?

Are you okay? Where are you?

And in case it isn't blindingly obvious, she took what I said out of context and left out everything I said about you being the most beautiful, amazing, intelligent and funny witches I have ever known. So.

I'm sorry.

But I should say all that in person.

Please, don't do anything rash, Oliver. Please?

I'm on the rooftop, watching the Owls.

I want to believe you. So, so badly.

I'll try to, but I can't make any promises.

I'll be there in 5.

It's true. I can't...Fuck it makes me so fucking mad that that stupid bint could make you doubt how much I love you.

What a shame, and I was looking forward to getting a treat for later on tonight.

[Private to Melinda]
You've got a good eye, but there are so many others who make more than quidditch players do. Pureblood entrepreneurs are suckers for anything in a skirt and a low-cut blouse, and no matter how 'mousey' the papers think you are, that's more than enough to pull in six-figure galleon benefactors. If you ever need anything a little stronger than the potion you used on Wood, let me know - I know people.

I'm sorry that you missed your treat for tonight, but unfortunately it's not currently possible to provide the customers with a relaxed environment to peruse the selection at hand.

[Private to Gemma]
Thank you for your offer, however, seeing as how I do not use Potions in my creations, I have no need for anything of the kind. I also thank you for your advice regarding how to best make money off of Pureblood entrepreneurs, but again, I have neither interest nor need for that.

I believe I shall see you at the next LBB meeting. Until then, have a good day, Miss Farley.

All right, but if you change your mind, you know where to find me. The same goes for the advice - I spent enough years learning to survive in old Knockturn that I've plenty of life lessons to share.

I'll see you then. And if reporters ever come buzzing at your door, a good confringo is more than enough to send them scurrying. They're worse than roaches!

I won't change my mind: I do not Potion anybody, never have never will. I was trying to be polite, now please: I'm not interested in knowing how to fool anybody out of anything or into doing things they don't want, so save your advice for someone lacking the self-respect to do such things.

I didn't Potion him!

No need to be insulting, I was just trying to be polite and helpful.

And I'd take the confringoadvice if I were you - I wasn't lying about the roaches.

What is insulting in this, is your assumption that I'm open to the suggestions you've made and that you would find me in need of stooping to those levels. Pardon me if I failed to make that point clear the first time I turned down your offer.

Confringoing someone while believed to Potioning a man into loving me? Yeah, I'm sure that would go over well. I'll keep that in mind for when I decide I don't want to run a business any longer.

There is that, though we do get gossipped and bitched about instead. Though I do have to say, that I have never slapped anyone, and I think it would have to be a very, very bad question for that to happen

From my experience that only happens when they are insanely jealous.

From Owls and Howlers too?

Thank you, Mari. I've got the rooftop warded off pretty well, sound proofed and Owls can only land in the far corner. Right now I, well, yes, I want to hide away, but I just need to figure out how to get past this and I'm thinking that Sweet Nothings may be open on Monday, completely free of Owls to bother the customers.

I didn't Potion him. I swear, I didn't. I wouldn't ever Potion anybody.

Gemma typically does good work. I don't really go anywhere else but I do dabble myself from time to time. We should get together and do our own manicures.

Unfortunately I've been there. People like to take what they think they know and expand it to what they wish they knew.

I know she does, and it's not her work I'm having issues with. We should do that, that could be fun. Order in some food, put some music on, girls only. It sounds like fun. I really want to say 'some time this weekend?', but it's pretty filled up with all kind of damage control, so... sometime this week?

You have, though I wish you hadn't. Nobody should have to. The sad thing is, that Oliver didn't even hide anything from them. He told them everything as it happened, but apparently that wasn't enough.

Well, first of all there was the comment about how money-wise I could do better than Oliver, which, yes, I suppose that is true, but money has nothing to do with what I have with him, and then there was the offer of connecting me with someone who has something "stronger than what [I] used on Wood", supposedly to get the "Pureblood entrepreneurs" that are better catches than he is.

I will, mine are, too. Mostly.

Yes, the Howlers are just words, but they chased customers from my business, which I am not happy about.

Oh honey I'm so sorry, I can't believe what they're saying or that anyone would believe it!

What can I do? I can stay out of the flat of course, but... Do you want Mum's place outside of Glasgow? It's secluded and my parents would be happy to have you.

How are you?

Too many things lining up to make it too easy not to believe? It'll blow over, it has to, I just wish they would stop with the Howlers. I understood the message the first time I got one, I don't need another 50.

I'm sorry, yes, I'm snappy and angry and hurt and worried and I feel horrid that it could come to this. Oliver and I... he's told me about it, we've talked about what could happen with all the attention that us being out in public might cause, so when the increased sale in Puddlemere Cakes was all that really happened, I thought we'd done everything right.

I might take you up on it, but for now, I'm staying on the rooftop. The Owls can't get in there, I've warned Cormac about the Howlers, and maybe the ruckus will make the people in the Alley who believe realise how obnoxious those really are. Besides, I need to make a game plan, and all my things are here.

I'm fine, really, at least I think so.

Just let me know, honey. I've already asked Mum to get the guest room set just in case (which in no way implies pressure).

Feel free to snap or vent - or anything else that you need - to me. I'm always here. And I know Oliver is a wonderful guy and he's making you glow at all, but if you to vent about the whole situation, him included, I'm also here for you.

I'll be at the office late and I'll just apparate home to hopefully avoid the worst of the owls on my way. If you see an owl with a bottle of wine attached to it, it's from me ♥

I will definitely consider it. I love your parents' place. Part of me just also wants to stay close and keep an eye on things, and it could be argued that if I hid out in Oliver's flat (have you seen the thing? It's tiny!) it would prove that I'm NOT in this for the money or the glamour.

He's Gryffindor and have a temper, which could prove testing when it comes to the public. Fortunately he also listens, and right now he's just trying to make things right again.

I will keep my eyes out for it, hopefully it will slow down later. Thank you so much, Cho ♥

Nobody's face needs smashing in. While I appreciate the sentiment and would love it if was all that simple, I don't think I could bear to have you getting in trouble over this as well... or risk being accused of Potioning you, too. After all - or so I've been told - I only need some stronger Potions to turn the heads of Pureblood entrepreneurs, and yes, that off has been made.
