At Finnigan's
WHO: Justin and Zacharias- Open should you want to have a piece of Justin.
WHEN: Tuesday, September 16th, in the afternoon
WHERE: Finnigan's
WHAT: A random encounter.
RATING: PG
STATUS: Ongoing/open

Justin looked at his bowl and smiled. It seemed like this was a good day for food at Finnigan's and it made Justin happy. He didn't want to have to walk out without having eaten anything since he was working that night. He hadn't needed to go back to the Janus Thickey Ward this week and he was relieved to be back in the emergency room. He had an immense respect for everyone who worked on that Ward, but sheesh Justin couldn't do it himself.

Gemma knew she was going to have a late night tonight, as an important client had asked to come in past closing time and she couldn't afford not to take her, so it was necessary to drop by the pub to get something to go. She was all ready to pop back out of the pub when she spotted a couple of blokes at nearby tables, one of whom has spent a considerable time staring at the barkeep before turning back to his novel, which looked suspiciously like some sort of trashy romance.

Normally she'd have walked out the door, but today, she needed something to lift her spirits before a late night ahead.

She stalked over to the bloke's table, grabbed the book from his hands, and held it high as she examined the cover. "Honestly, do you actually like these things? Ridiculous pieces of trash if there ever was one, formulaic as hell, and I honestly wouldn't even wipe my pert arse with one if the loo was out of paper."

Speaking of her gorgeous arse, she perched it against another table, the one where the other bloke she'd spotted had been eating whatever it was he'd ordered, she didn't care enough to look. She did, however, toss the book into the second bloke's lap. "Does this look like something an upstanding wizard reads? But seriously, it's probably nothing compared to the arse of the wizard this bloke's been eyeing for however long now. What do you think, should he just go and take him in a manly fashion?" she asked sarcastically, layering in large doses of melodrama.

Although it really was none of his business, Zacharias couldn't help but glance over as a woman approached and began speaking to Justin, not to mention stole his book. It wasn't like the whole thing was happening behind closed doors in some private room. No, it was right next to him, so of course he'd notice. He wouldn't be surprised if he looked around and saw half the people in the pub noticing. And, although he'd gotten better about blurting under normal circumstances, that didn't mean he'd lost his curiosity. So he watched her, at least briefly before taking another bite of pie.

Zacharias glanced up at the woman and then down at the book in his lap, secretly glad he hadn't jumped at her sitting on his table or the book falling onto him. He closed his book and picked up the romance novel, his own book replacing it on his lap. Despite the fact that he strongly suspect she was being a bitch for the sake of her own boredom, he humoured her by giving the book a once over. "Honestly, as long as he doesn't do it where I'm eating or where the food's prepared, I don't care if he takes someone in a manly fashion or is taken in a manly fashion," he said without looking up. He wouldn't admit he actually had no idea how two men could take each other in any fashion, but it wasn't really relevant just then, either.

"Here," he said, turning toward Justin and stretching out his hand to offer him his book back.

Justin blushed and took his book back, giving Zacharias a sheepish smile, thanking him. "Well, yeah, it's a no brainer. Completely predictable and trashy, I agree, but.." he wiped his eyes with one hand and sighed. "I don't feel like having to think when I'm relaxing on my only day off before a 9 days stretch in the Emergency Room."

He looked at Seamus again and bit his lower lip before looking at Gemma again. "And besides, what happens between the gorgeous bartender and I is between the two of us, really." Enough knew about their Sexcapades already, no need to tell everyone else.

It amused Gemma to see the blond bloke hand the book back and seem all nice about the whole deal. "Oh, of course it is," she said with mock sincerity, moving away from the blond's table to stand behind the brunet. "It must be so hard to watch him from all the way over here, with his..." She leaned over his shoulder, placed a finger in the book, then read a line aloud. "...winning smile, and glistening, tumescent rod of lust."

She giggled to herself, the phrase just so terribly written. "Maybe we should help you win the love of your man, what do you think?" She picked at a lock of the brunet's hair with her fingers, then glanced over at the blond. "Perhaps a little snip here, a curling spell there? Shall we play fairy godmother and father for this hopeless romantic? Or should we remind him that romance is dead?"

Zacharias gave Justin a nod in response to the thank you, deciding to let him and the woman speak. Or her taunt him while he defended himself. Whichever. Romance novels was not a topic he cared one way or another about, so he didn't see why he should get involved. Besides, Justin seemed to be doing fine on his own and was certainly allowed to read whatever he wanted, especially when relaxing. At least he wasn't reading about how to become the next Dark Lord or something similar.

"I don't get the reference," he said when the woman said something about them helping Justin win Seamus. He didn't think fairies had godparents. Not like people did anyway. Maybe they had their own version of it, but, if so, he'd never heard about it. Regardless, he didn't know Justin well enough to care one way or another. Sure, they'd been in the same place at the same time in the past, but that didn't mean he cared enough about him to try to play whatever game she was talking about.

"Also, for all either of us knows, he might just be appreciative of what he sees and not actually want anything romantic. And if that's the case, I'm sure he's capable of getting it on his own." Or not. What did he know? When it came to people he knew years ago, not much.

Justin was grateful that Zacharias didn't seem to get in on the whole teasing thing and he sighed. "Exactly. It's not because I'm, " he made a gesture towards Zacharias to emphasize exactly what the other man had said. "appreciative of his physique that I'm interested romantically." He told Gemma softly.

"And this," He held up the book. "Is not real life and it is in no way how I would like it to be."

Then Justin blushed and sighed. "And romance isn't dead it's just.. not something I need right now." Which was kind of a lie, but Gemma wasn't part of his close cercle and didn't need to know that.

"So you are interested in him romantically, just not because of his physique. Oh, how romantic," she said, smoothing out the hair she'd been playing with.

"Someday you'll learn it's dead, and when you do, you'll thank me for enlightening you." She shifted the package she was carrying with her dinner, and could feel her stomach rumble in hunger. Playtime was over, it seemed.

"Have a good meal, boys," she said with a swish of her hips as she left the two idiots to their own devices.

Justin narrowed his eyes and glared at her as she left not saying anything at all as she left. Then he made a pft sound and frowned. "Really.. me, having feelings for Seamus." He rolled his eyes and shook his head. It still took him less than a full minute before he dared a glance towards the bartender.

"Just feelings in your pants," Zacharias said as he noticed Justin looking yet again at Seamus. Clearly he wanted Seamus in one way or another, but Zacharias just didn't care enough to stick around to see how it played out. He put his napkin on the table and stood up, deciding he was done, his appetite gone. He took a swig of butterbeer and decided to just hunt the server down to pay for his meal. Before, though, he glanced at Justin.

"Good luck with..." He waved a hand in Seamus's general direction, gave Justin a nod, then made a beeline for the server. He paid and headed out the door, new-to-him books in hand. Next time, he decided he, he'd just sit off in a corner. At least then he wouldn't get dragged into someone's taunting.
