Come cuddle
Who: Open to Hannah, Susan, Bryn, Dennis, Justin, Neville, Luna, Ernie, Ben, Megan & Dean - And also to anyone who may have followed them up from Battlescars / the pub.
What: Cuddles, cheering up. ETA: Or, as it turns out, angst.
Where: The Roost
When: After lunch Sunday - potentially Monday morning if people stay over
Rating: SFW (Seamus says no sex or nudity in his pub! Language is fine, I'll update the rating if we need it.)

Seamus hadn't bothered to get Dominic to alter The Roost for his impromptu cuddle party so the room was in more or less its natural stage. Wide open, taking up the whole of the second floor, with white walls and big windows along both sides it was pleasant if not particularly exciting. Before Battlescars, Seamus dragged not only his pillows and duvet down from his flat but also all the spare cushions from his couch. He'd used cleaning and freshening charms on all of it and then, in a fit of whimsy, charmed it all yellow in honour of Hufflepuff.

It wasn't quite 'the Hufflepuff common room' that he'd originally suggested to Dean in order to cheer up Susan, but he suspected it would do. It was the people more than the furniture that made a cuddle party what it was. The snacks he'd promised were already stowed in one corner - bags of marshmallows and popcorn, a stack of chocolate frogs and a thermos of hot chocolate. He suspected people would be adding to his supplies as they arrived.

Dennis sighed gustily into the other man's shoulder. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I just need to come to terms with the fact that I'm Kryptonite to men," he said, aware that he was wallowing a little bit, but unable to stop, particularly not when he was lying cocooned in the warmth of a hug with Seamus. There was really no safer place to be he mused as he watched Dean pass and sit down with Susan. Anyone stupid enough to turn down a hug, or a relationship would have to be royally idiotic. He snorted and lifted his head to look at Seamus wryly. "Thank you, I think? I don't know that I count as a waif anymore, so I guess I'm a stray?"

"Only fine-ish? You should be ecstatic! You deserve to be screwing hotties left right and centre and riding on motorbikes made of rainbows," he said with the authority of a naked man with a badger on his head - which is to say plenty in his own mind, but not so much in anyone else. "I am grateful for the hugfest. I think Ernie might ravish me. Again."

Seamus heaved a sigh of his own, having heard this argument before. He hated it, hated that Paden had managed to convince Dennis he wasn't attractive. He could remember the days when Dennis had been snogging several blokes a night in Heaven, and now he wouldn't even try. "You are not Kryptonite to men. You are gorgeous and the only reason I'm not trying to get into your sinfully tight pants every weekend is that you're like a brother to me. And also I work weekends."

He brushed his nose against Dennis's temple in a sort of eskimo kiss while his free hand darted towards his ribs, fingers wriggling against the spot he knew Dennis was most ticklish. He eased up after a moment. "Well, I don't know that I deserve any of that, but either way I'm definitely not getting it." He only flushed slightly as he said it, because while he might not be screwing hotties left, right and centre he had at least had two excellent nights with Justin not so very long ago. "Well, I can't speak from personal experience, but I'm sure Ernie's a very thorough and obliging ravisher."

Dennis scoffed at Seamus' words. From a detached point of view, he knew he was at least mildly attractive. After all he had left a fairly wide swathe of male-attracted me behind him at Hogwarts, and had a lot of nice sex in the years since. His problem stemmed not from the fact that he didn't think he was attractive, but that he knew he wasn't enough. He lacked something: some facet of his physical or psychological makeup was missing, and that was why Paden had left him for Tom. He didn't say any of this to Seamus of course, he just smiled sadly. "I used to, but obviously not anymore. There's something wrong with- it doesn't matter. Let's not talk about me. Me's boring." He grinned at Seamus and shook his head. "How interesting that weekends a little faux incest are the only things keeping our epic bromance blossoming into an epic romance."

"You do deserve it," Dennis said matter-of-factly. "You deserve so much sex that you can't walk properly." He nodded expansively, "In fact you deserve so much sex that you eventually have to get me to smuggle you away from your adoring public dressed as a pair of nuns on bicycles so that we may go to Nepal and live as goats." He would have continued but Seamus started tickling him, and he began giggling and flailing around like an octopus on a propeller. "Oh Godric, please stop, pleeeaaase," he begged. Once he'd caught his breath he snorted at the other man. "I like Ernie but I'm happy being friends. No need for ravishment services from him."

"Yes anymore, if you wanted," Seamus said, stubborn as only a Gryffindor-and-honorary-Hufflepuff could be. "Once Charlie starts Queer nights, I'm going to take you out and prove it to you." He pulled away from his snuggling to look seriously into Dennis's face. "There is nothing wrong with you." He knew that they all had their problems - him not least - with trust issues and commitment issues and any number of other things, but Dennis had been so wonderfully free of all that until Paden had come along to mess everything up. "And you're not boring." He slid an arm around Dennis's shoulders and tried to get him to rest his head on Seamus's chest so he could feel 'small and protected' as he'd claimed.

He shook his head with a laugh. "I don't want to go to Nepal. My friends are here. Guess I'd better keep the sex to a once a year occurrence." He held Dennis close as he flailed so they wouldn't go slipping off the cushions. "Sorry not sorry," he teased, catching Dennis's hands in his free hand so he couldn't retaliate. "You needed to laugh. Healer's prescription." And he'd needed it too, maybe. "As long as we get to claim our cuddle with Ernie, I suppose that's alright."

Dennis shook his head stubbornly, a tears welling in his eyes. "I don’t want anyone else,” he said, very quietly, before smiling in what he sincerely hoped was a winning fashion. "But I’ll let you take me out to Queer Nights, they’ll be a laugh if nothing else.” Doggedly, he simply nodded at Seamus’ comment because there obviously was something wrong with him. There had to be. “Thank you Princess, I try not the be boring,” he said, allowing his head to be pushed down on Seamus’ chest. Laying very still for a moment, he blinked back the tears that were threatening to pour out. This was meant to be a cheerful event, not a sad one.

He lifted his head and looked down at Seamus shrewdly. "Oh c'mon, Princess we both know you’ve had sex more than that. I’m willing to bet ten galleons that you’ve had sex at least twice in the last week if I’m not mistaken." Of course he wasn’t going to mention that the notoriously well informed gossipmongers that he made it his business to know had told him that Seamus had likely scored. A lad had to have some secrets after all.

He pouted down at Seamus in mock outrage at the fact that he wasn't allowed to retaliate. There would be revenge soon, tickly revenge. "Healer-schmealer, it's not Cricket to tickle someone and not let them retaliate," he said with a ferocious growl, lifting Seamus' shirt to reveal his stomach. He looked down and was about to tickle him when he noticed the scar. "Cor," he said, impressed. "You've been holding out on me Princess. A sexy scar that you told me nothing about! Ernie can go and cuddle someone else, scars are sexy!"

Seamus frowned at that - and at the tears shining unshed in Dennis's eyes. "You don't?" That he couldn't understand. Paden obviously hadn't been good enough, if he hadn't valued Dennis then he was an idiot and the fact that he'd had no problem with infidelity meant he was a prick into the bargain. "What, ever?" Seamus had never had a relationship serious enough that he'd been sad to lose the person themselves, he'd only ever missed the hope that he might finally... He pushed the thought away, focusing on Dennis.

Seamus's flush darkened and he cursed - not for the first time - his Irish complexion. "Why do all my friends have a Seamus-got-laid sixth sense?" he complained, though he was laughing as well as blushing. "Alright, yes, I have - but it was over a year before that. As you were all doubtless aware."

Dennis somehow got his hands free and Seamus was all but ready to give himself over to being tickled - when Dennis pushed his shirt up. Seamus bolted upright, pushing it back down and going pale, his mouth pinched. "Shut up," he hissed. His eyes darted around the room like a nervous prey animal. Susan, Dean, Ernie - all fine, but fuck, Bryn was here too and Dennis and now everyone was staring at him. He could feel the weight of their eyes and he forced himself to laugh - a sound that got stuck in the back of his throat.

It wasn't just the scar, though that was bad enough, it was his own overreaction. Dennis's words were running on repeat through his head and he couldn't decide whether they sounded more like mockery or pity, or which was worse. He glanced to Dean, to Dennis, back to Dean and finally back to Dennis. He should offer some kind of explanation - but the last thing he wanted to do was talk. "Need the loo," he muttered after what felt like an hour - and walked off before Dennis could react, his shoulders stiff as he held himself back from running to the door and slamming it behind him.

Dennis leant back, blinking as Seamus snarled at him. "Wha-" He blinked several times as Seamus looked around like a cornered animal, before eventually stalking off. He watched his friend walk off, still in shock. Obviously the scar was a sore point for some unfathomable reason, but Dennis was a bit hurt - actually, a lot hurt - at the way Seamus had walked away. He felt a tightness grow in his chest as he realised he'd somehow managed to push another important person away from him. He shut his eyes, furiously blinking back tears.

He was vaguely aware of Susan coming up to him and talking to him, patting his arm. He nodded mechanically at the appropriate intervals, not really hearing anything until she said "I don't know that Shay's wards will let you in the flat" which for some reason made him furious. Without saying a word, he disapparated to Rolf's flat.
