Who: Vikesh Moon and OPEN
What: Yoga class and maybe some meditation
Where: Finnigan's - The Roost
When: September 8, noon
Status: OPEN / Incomplete

Vikesh pulled off his light shirt as he moved to the front of the room and tossed it to where he had dropped his bag. That left him in a pair of soft and worn terrycloth trousers that were frayed at the edges, and otherwise he was bare-chested and bare-footed. Today, he could forget about losing streaks and frustrated teammates, injured housemates and aggravating quidditch reporters. For one glorious hour, he could share his knowledge and passion with many others.

He stretched out his body as the others arrived, watching them move to their mats. Once the clock at the rear chimed noon, he settled facing the room, placed his hands before him, and made a bow.

"We will begin with a sun salutation, and after that, we will go through a series of postures that will open up the chakras and help us get in touch with our bodies. As we go, I will also show you variations of the poses for any of you who are looking for a greater stretch."

[OOC - to make things simpler, I will subdivide the thread in 2, one for during the lesson and one for after.]

Having finished the lesson with a namaste to his students, Vikesh went to retrieve the bottle of water he had brought in with him, needing a long drink after having well stretched his muscles.

Lisa was practically floating after the session. It had been a few months since she'd done any yoga properly, and it was good to get back in the routine. The fact that the instructor was incredibly nice to look at didn't hurt. It was absolutely the highlight of the session for her.

Still dressed in her workout gear, she headed for her own bottle of water. If she'd just happened to leave it near Vikesh's, well, she was no dummy. It had been far too long since she'd had an innocent flirtation with a gorgeous man. The bookstore and her kid ate up most of her time, so she had to grab opportunities as they presented themselves.

"Great class," she said, grinning sunnily up at him. "I haven't been to one since we moved back. I'm glad I finally had the chance to come to one." For more than one reason.

"Thank you," he replied as he turned to look at the young woman, taking in her outfit which left little to the imagination. He was a chaste man but he wasn't dead, and thus was still completely capable of appreciating a beautiful woman. "I'm just glad Seamus was interested in giving me the space. If you ask me, too many people neglect their bodies. When you neglect the temple, you neglect the soul inside."

He took a quick swig before recapping his bottle. "You said you moved back. From where? Was it a long journey?"

"I couldn't agree more," Lisa said, smiling up at him. "Plus, it's hard to deny the physical benefits of yoga. Increased flexibility, better sleeping patterns..." Rock hard abs, she finished silently. She was a flirt, but she wasn't that much of a flirt. "But the more you practice yoga, the more the spiritual benefits take hold. It's like Tae Kwan Do in that aspect."

She followed suit, taking a long during from her own bottle before screwing the cap back on. "Oh, from San Francisco. I went there after sixth year...had to get away you know?" Or risk being thrown into Azkaban, and a certain Slytherin finding out about her...situation. "But I wanted my son to get in touch with his Wizarding roots, so we moved back a couple months ago. There's a lot less...cultural variety, I guess, here though, compared to where we were living. It's taking some getting used to."

He nodded as she listed the benefits, and cocked his head in interest when she mentioned Tae Kwon Do. He'd never taken any form of martial arts himself, but he could appreciate those that did.

He nodded solemnly. "My family went to India, spent some time around Bombay, but we moved back shortly after the war ended. But I can understand wanting to give a child a sense of heritage. What does your husband think of British wizards? Does he come from San Francisco as well?"

She saw his look of interest when she mentioned Tae Kwan Do, and grinned. "My grandmother is a Grand Master, and convinced me to take it up after I gave birth. I fell in love with the art of it, you know what I mean?" She thought he might feel the same about yoga in a way.

"Oh, there's no husband," Lisa said easily. She was long used to fielding this question, and it no longer bothered her. Much. "Christopher's father isn't in the picture." At least, not yet. She was nervous about the inevitable chance meeting with Blaise. It was bound to happen eventually; she was familiar with Murphy's Law and if ever there was a situation where it applied, this was it.

"I suppose there's an art to it, yes, but I'd imagine there's also a union between mind and spirit that would be far more beautiful than any artistry."

His brow furrowed at the idea of a child's father not being in the picture. Not that he didn't know it happened, but from how he'd been raised, it simply wasn't done - though neither was being a single parent (except in the case of death, of course). "What kind of father isn't in the picture? It sounds like you've had some bad taste in men, as someone like that doesn't sound like they deserve to be a husband or father."

"For me it's the artistry and the union that's beautiful," Lisa said. "I don't think it works without the other."

She was not unused to reactions like this, especially since moving back to England. It seemed unwed, non-widowed mothers weren't common around these parts. She refused to let it bother her. "The kind who doesn't know," she said, nothing if not upfront and honest. "I was very young, we both were. It wasn't a good situation." War never was, but she didn't want to give too many details. Not when word could get back to Blaise and she just wasn't ready for that.

"That's one way to look at it," he replied with a slight nod of approval.

He was very much taken aback by her admission. This was yet one of the many reasons he remained celibate during the quidditch season (and tempted him to do so the rest of the year). How could a woman not let the father of her child know he was a father? Other people may have said nothing or tried to be diplomatic, but that wasn't how Vikesh was raised. Blunt honesty, even if it humiliates you, even if the reaction is horrific, because truth and humility are more important than a pretentious lie.

"Whatever the situation, every man deserves to know he has a child. A lie, even by omission, is still a lie and will bring you bad karma. Don't you realize this lie will come back on you one day? We reap what we sow." The words may have seemed harsh, but they were spoken out of concern.

What Vikesh was saying was nothing Lisa hadn't heard before, from her grandparents and from herself. Every time she looked at Christopher she was reminded of the choices she'd made, even though she'd thought they'd been the best ones at the time. It just wasn't comfortable hearing them from someone else.

But she fought the urge to snap at him. "It's...complicated." It was a weak excuse, but it didn't make it any less true. So many years had gone by, she wouldn't even know how to begin. "I'm working on it." It wasn't exactly true, but it wasn't a lie either. She was at least thinking about it, and had been since coming back. She wouldn't be able to avoid Blaise forever.

"Well, I have to get back to the shop. Thanks for the session, and I'll see you again. If you ever stop into the bookstore, we have some books you might find interesting."

"Thank you, I'll definitely pay a visit between games. I wish you a good day at work."

He opened his bottle to take one final pull of water before moving to retrieve a towel from his bag. He hoped she came back as she said, as she seemed like someone in dire need of enlightenment. Yoga and meditation could do wonders, even for those who didn't believe as he did. He just appreciated the opportunity to share some of his knowledge with others.
