RP: McLaggen's Magical Sports
Who: Mac + Open
What: McLaggen's evening hours.
When: Friday, July 3rd, PM
Where: McLaggen's Magical Sports, Monument Alley
Rating: SFW

Mac was changing the window dressings this evening. He'd changed from his usual work attire into shorts and a t-shirt, better for digging around in the dusty storage space on his building's second floor, and for all the stretching and crouching of moving heavy things and making them look good in the windows. Plus, it didn't hurt if mother's with excited, gift-greedy children wandering buy saw him stretching and crouching in shorts, instead of slacks. Cormac may be a one-witch man these days, but he also knew the value of enticing the female shopping population. He also figured Lavender knew him well enough to be far past worrying about his ego.

The thought of Lavender made him smile and as his mind drifted he lifted a particularly heavy lighting system, but his lack of concentration got him and he over-estimated a distance. A quick shouted buffering charm stopped the lamps from crashing into the floor but didn't stop them from bringing down a line of brooms. Cursing to himself and shaking his head as if to focus it physically, he grabbed the lamps again and narrowed his eyes at them, getting back to work.

Marietta wasn't one to fawn all over Quidditch. However, she'd recently come across a client who had asked her if she would be alright with some Quidditch role playing. She didn't know what he had in mind but she could most definitely dress the part of adoring fan girl. That of course meant adding a jersey or two to her wardrobe that she could pack along. She'd likely need to add a fan cape as well. She knew players wore them and she was certain she had seen a few fans sporting them before as well.

It'd didn't take her long to grab a Tutshill, a Cannons and an Arrows jersey though she knew the variety of teams would look odd considering most people only ever bought gear for one team. She also needed some practice gear as well. That though was something she'd definitely need help with seeing as she'd never played. Still, she never knew whether she'd be asked to pretend to play as well.

"Excuse me," she spoke approaching someone she felt certain was an employee considering they were working in the window. As always her timing was horrible and just as the words exit her mouth the crashing noise began and she could only watch as the fall occurred in slow motion. Luckily, everything was saved and believing that she'd caused the distraction, Marietta turned to see if there was another associate that could assist her.

Cormac turned to set the offending lights down and saw a pretty redhead moving away from him at a rather good clip. He hastily put the things down with one more angry look and moved up behind her, but not too close to be considered inappropriate (when had he started caring about that?), "Can I help you, miss?" He asked.

Marietta jumped at the sound of a voice behind her. She had not been expecting the work to cease for her. Turning she rolled her eyes and immediately knew why the work had stopped. Somewhere in her memory she recalled that McLaggen had never had the ability to not pull attention to himself when he could get it from a female.

"Hello, McLaggen," she acknowledged her recognition of him. "I'm trying to figure out what sort of practice gear a Quidditch player uses. I need to," she paused trying to figure out how to phrase herself, "get some for a friend."

"Marietta," he said when she turned. He looked at what she'd all ready collected and gave her a strange look, "Your friend likes a lot of teams," he thought out loud.

He indicated the practice gear section with a nod of his head, "I can help with the gear, though," and he moved in that direction. "What position do they play?" He asked in a friendly tone as they reached that area of the store. Knowing what position would help him narrow down what her friend might need, and he only hoped she had some idea where to begin.

Marietta looked down at the assortment draped over her arm then back up at Cormac. "Stocking up on Christmas presents while I can," she brushed off the multiple teams remark.

Tilting her head slightly she pondered a position and finally decided that beater would have the most play for fantasy purposes, though Seekers were always popular as well. "They're contemplating both beater and seeker," she said hoping it didn't sound too odd. "Very indecisive," she quickly added

Mac gave her a smile, "Smart," he said, not wanting to push anything - she was a customer after all.

Cormac gave her a confused look this time, "Contemplating? Are they trying out for a team or just learning? Most people just sort of... have a position, you know?" Cormac didn't know it was instinct, talent, or cosmic intervention that pointed a player toward one position over another, but he knew that he'd always been a Keeper and always would be. It was just sort of part of his natural make-up.

"But either way, I can help with equipment and training uniforms for both if you like?" He asked, pointing first toward the beater bats.

Marietta was floundering something fierce. She had gone to the Quidditch games at Hogwarts because everyone went, that and to support her best friend. Still she'd never understood the game. Even now when she went it was either to support a friend or play the role of arm candy.

Cormac's questioning and assumptions that everyone should know about these sort of things caused her to panic. What if he saw through what she was doing? "I suppose I'll have to let them come in and speak with someone themselves," she back pedaled. The jersey's would have to be enough for now.
