Cho had needed a couple of friendly drinks. Brunch with Melinda the day before had been delightful - laughing and feeling free for a while - but firewhiskey was needed sometimes. With Ben working at the bar, the group had decided to meet up there and maybe head to Weasley's club once he was off. But it was looking forward to a few shots with friends that brought Cho to the bar tonight, dressed in a short black dancing dress and tall high heels.

Entering Finnigan's she waved to Ben and took a seat at the bar and waited for Mel and Roger to join her.

Even before she had heard about Roger’s injury, Melinda had planned on getting as much of the treats for Roger’s day with Marcus tomorrow ready, because with tonight’s drinks and dancing still on, she knew that she would be at a limited capacity in the morning, so as much as possible had to be completely ready, so that it only took a few waves of her wand and a semi-steady hand to hand it over to Marcus. So it was with a good conscience that she entered Finnigan’s, wearing the same floral dress that Cho had deemed ‘no good for dating’ after the disastrous first date that had led to a marriage proposal. Melinda loved the dress and she wasn’t on a date or picking up anyone tonight, but she did look and feel great in it, so why not wear it this last time before it became too light for fall?

Spotting first Ben behind the bar and immediately afterwards Cho in their regular spot, she hurried up to her friend and pressed a kiss to her cheek in greeting. “I’m sorry I’m late,” she apologised as she did her best to rid Cho of the lipstick mark on her cheek. “Hi Ben!” she waved to Ben and drew herself up to sit in the seat next to Cho. “I was just getting Roger’s care-package ready. You look amazing!”

Saturday nights at Finnigans were almost as busy as Friday nights, but Ben wouldn't have it any differently. He liked to be busy, chatting with the regulars, flirting with anyone who looked a little glum, listening to their stories. It kept him on his toes, and it was a lot of fun.

Ben worked his way down to where Mel and Cho were seated, and grinned at them. "You two look gorgeous." He leaned over the bar and gave them both a quick, friendly kiss. "So, what's your poison tonight? First rounds on me, but if you two pay for a drink all night, I'll eat my hat." Since he didn't have a hat, he thought he'd be pretty safe.

"What do you mean care package?" Why would Mel be sending Roger anything? She shook her head at her friend's compliment, "Sometimes a girl needs a little dress, right?" Yes, Cho needed a little dress, and a tall dark and handsome gentleman to buy her a strong drink.

"She's the natural beauty here, we all know it," Cho indicated Mel with a genuine smile and leaned across the bar to receive Ben's kiss. "I certainly hope you're right, though, I hear we've got to make Roger insanely jealous that he isn't hear to join us because he's an injured prat, and I don't want to go without a drop all night."

Cho quickly ordered an appletini.

“Mm, praise from the handsome bartender,” Melinda beamed at Ben, stepping up on the small foot rail for his offered kiss, before she sat back down again. While she would happily accept drinks from both Ben and Cho tonight, the thought of having other people pay for them just didn’t sit right with her.

“Now, now,” she chastised Cho playfully, “there’ll be none of that tonight, and you know very well that your exotic beauty’s admired by, well, everyone.” She smiled at Cho and asked Ben for a Gin & Tonic.

“You haven’t read your journal today?” she asked, even as she pulled her own from her purse and started flipping through it. “Or listened to the Wireless? I heard the recap right after the Puddlemere/Pride match, that Roger’d been taken to St. Mungo’s, and then there was this.” Melinda turned her journal so Cho could read. “He’s home, but on bedrest, I take it, so it’s been arranged for Flint to come pick up the care-package so Roger can have it tomorrow.”

Ben had missed the match, so the fact that Roger had been injured was news to him. It was even more interesting news that Marcus was the one picking up the care package. "Is he now? Isn't that nice of him." He grinned when he said it, then had to move down the bar to help another customer.

That taken care of quickly, he returned to his girls. "Give him my best if you go by. I'll try to get there later in the week. He'll probably need constant entertainment to keep from going nuts. I know I would." Bed rest and Ben would not be a match made in heaven. He shuttered to think about it.

"I can't believe I missed that, though that's as good an example as any as to why I needed to get out tonight." She shrugged, Roger seemed fine from Melinda's description. She did wonder if Marietta knew, but she could always find out tomorrow.

Cho couldn't help her delighted giggle at the mention of Marcus - and even better, Ben's reaction to it. She found the whole thing whimsical and romantic and a little mysterious, but she hadn't been told much either.

Taking a long drink of her delicious cocktail, she scanned the room while Ben was gone and leaned over to point out a couple of good looking guys to Melinda - Cho thought they had the rough-and-tumble look of muggle rugby players.

“Very nice of him,” Melinda grinned with a nod. How long hadn’t they heard Roger talk about Marcus? She couldn’t remember, but it had been a while and this was the first time she’d heard of a not-quite-team mate from Marcus’s side.

Melinda sipped from her drink, trying to figure out the best way to let Cho know about Oliver. That opportunity, came more or less on its own, when She followed Cho’s finger and saw a couple of men who, granted had that ruggish handsome look about them and whom she would most likely have found irresistible just a couple of weeks ago. “I uhm,” she started, feeling her cheeks heat up slightly, both at having to let Cho in on what she had kept to herself for the past weeks, but also because just thinking about him made her feel warm all over. “I promised Oliver I’d come over to his place when it’s time to go home.”
