RP: Dinner!
Who: Susan, Dean, Eddie, Ernie, Hannah, Justin, Megan, Rolf, Rose and Seamus.

Where: Susan's flat

When: Friday 5th September, 7pm

Rating: SFW

To say that Susan had had an interesting day was perhaps one of the greatest understatements since 'Hey, if we point sticks at one another our magic is scarier!' Her day had been equal parts annoying, awesome, and confusing, and the prospect of having her friends around for dinner had been one of the things that had kept her powering through her sleep deprived state. The brandy and wine at Rose's had helped too. Still, she had just enough time after seeing Rose to rush to the supermarket and buy panic buy enough products to feed a Quidditch match.

Two hours later: her kitchen smelled amazing, and she'd managed enough just enough downtime to slip into a cute little dress. She was just vaguely wondering where all the people were when the doorbell rang, and the first of her guests arrived.

Even though his stomach had been full to brimming the night before, that had never stopped Ernie from filling it even further the day after. He was unfashionably early, as always, at Susan's door with a pair of baguettes under his arm, spelled to stay nice and fresh.

"The party can start, I'm here," he said with a grin as Susan opened the door. He reached out for a hug and a kiss to her cheek before entering. "So, where is Edgar and this girlfriend of his?"

Justin chuckled and shook his head. "Figured you'd be there even earlier than I am." He said as he approached the opened door with a bottle of wine and a chocolate pie.

He was happy and relaxed, having slept as much as he could after his very energetic night with Seamus. And now he was going to eat a wonderful dinner surrounded by his friends and everything seemed to go right for him.

Susan smiled brightly at her two friends. The first to arrive were Hufflepuffs because of course they would be. Kissing each of them on the cheek, she ushered them inside.

"You're the first to arrive," she said with a smile, as she led them through the hall and into the living room. "Which is just as well really, have the party going when everyone else arrives." She winked at them, and took the pie and baguettes off them, walking over to the kitchen to put them away. "Can I get either of you a drink?"

Justin had insisted on at least trying to help by setting up the table. Humming some song he had heard somewhere (he couldn't remember), he placed everything he had been told to, almost bouncing on his feet. He didn't break into a full blown dancing session in front of everyone.

Ernie had known something was up with Justin the moment he'd spotted his best mate, but he didn't want to embarrass the poor man in front of Susan. Now, however, Justin was alone and Ernie planned on taking advantage of the moment.

He grabbed Justin by the elbow and pulled him over to the side, not giving him a say in the matter. When they were in a corner away from prying ears, Ernie took Justin's face between his hands, gave it one long look, and grinned from ear to ear.

"All right, I know that look, and you got laid, you devil! All right, who was it, when, how, and all that shite. Come on, man, spill!"

Startled, Justin gasped softly. However gently Ernie had grabbed him, he hadn't expected his mate to do something like this. "Wait-what?" he started saying, but then, Ernie grabbed his face and for a moment, he wondered if he was going to get snogged.

"I don't.." He said, shaking his head. Of course Ernie could tell. Justin was like an open book to his friends and only when he was with strangers did he guard himself to tightly. "Well, you know whom. And um..last night."

Rolf was, as per usual for pretty much everything except for work (and even then, some times...), running a little late. Not so much that Susan need to smack him, but enough that he wouldn't be able to help but apologize profusely. He always seemed to get caught up in something and lose track of time. He had flowers though, he'd anticipated himself, and smile on his face as he arrived, hopeful that Susan wouldn't be too put out at him.

Susan opened the door to see Rolf standing sheepishly and holding a giant bouquet of Black-eyed Susans and daisies out as if in supplication. Grinning she hugged him and kissed him on the cheek. "Hello darling, did you know you're the second man to give me a bunch of daisies today?" Leading him into the house, she felt a flush colour her cheeks. "Of course, I don't intend to shag you like I did him. Not that I planned to shag him you understand." Oh Godric, Shut up Susan! Shut up! she thought in horror, thinking of the ridiculous amounts of brandy she'd consumed that day with Rose. "Anyway, Ernie and Justin are in the living room talking, why don't I take these flowers and put them in a vase. Then bludgeon myself in the head with it?"

Rolf hugged her and kissed her cheek as well, comfortable being affectionate with her because he tended to be comfortable with her. He blinked a bit as she started talking and then flushed a bit as well. It really wasn't hard to fluster him when it came to compliments and talk of shagging. Especially when he was mentioned.

"Ah well, okay then," he said. It was a confusing moment -- since Susan was attractive, after all, though apparently kind of sort of taken? And she'd never shown interest like that in him, anyway, and he had never been around much to develop much interest in anyone in England. Plus he was simply fluster, so his brain went around and around for a moment.

"No bludgeoning," he told her, grinning a little and managing to slow his hamster-wheel brain for a moment. He couldn't imagine she'd meant to say all that to him, anyway. "Sorry I'm a few minutes late." He tugged a lock of her hair and grinned, doing his best to soothe her fluster since he was better at helping others than he ever was at helping himself.

Dean was late, despite the fact he'd been planning to be early since Susan had invited him. Of course then the decision that the studio group was gearing up for a showing again meant that he had been sent into something of a frenzy of trying to sort older works and prioritising what part-finished things to finish first, writing lists of things he'd like to try and do in time.

He'd even managed to run out of time to make the madeleines he had planned on and had to dash to the supermarket and grab some after dinner mints. He arrived, rather out of breath after Apparating just down the road and all but sprinting to Susan's door. He was very much hoping not to get hexed.

When the doorbell rang, Susan flicked her wand merging her mind with the supersensory charm woven through her wards and saw a very puffed out and oddly frightened looking Dean standing at her door. Shaking her head and smiling slightly, she walked quickly down to the front door and swung it open. "Hello handsome," she said as she pulled his head down to kiss his cheek and give him a warm hug. "How are you? Come in and settle yourself down! Ernie, Justin, and Rolf are already here." She looked at the mints and quirked her eyebrows. "Did you get mints? You legend! I forgot to get some!"

"Hello beautiful hostess," he said, kissing her cheek in return and grinning at her. "Busy is how I've been. The whole show decision made my brain sort of panic and I've been running around like a niffler chasing glitter!"

"And yes, I brought mints. I was planning on bringing madeleines but I sort of ran out of time. Had to run to Tesco," he said with a sheepish smile.

He came inside, handing over the chocolates. "I thought other people might have brought wine and flowers, and extra mints never hurt."

Seamus was late. Just a little. Ten minutes - okay, twenty minutes. Twenty five by the time he managed to apparate to a quiet spot and walk the short distance to Susan's house. It wasn't his fault, really. He'd taken the afternoon shift so as to get the evening off and then he'd had to stay behind and premake a bunch of chips and garlic bread and chicken wings for in case anyone got hungry while they were without a chef.

Despite his tardiness, he wasn't worried. Susan loved him far too much to actually hex him. It was actually hard to worry about anything as he knocked at Susan's door and admired her garden. He felt satisfied and content in a way he hadn't in ages. He'd almost forgotten what it felt like not to be sexually frustrated - not to look at every cute guy who walked past and want and wish for things that his trust issues made basically impossible.

He rearranged his gifts - wine and a bunch of flowers - so they'd be the first thing Susan saw when she opened the door. He wasn't worried, but he could still play things to his advantage. He'd like not to get hexed - certainly not before Sunday.

Susan opened the door and smiled at Seamus for a moment, before his huge grin, un-slumped shoulders, and slight swagger made her close her mouth and narrow her eyes in a assessment. "You've had sex," she said at last, a smirk blooming on her face. "You sly dog, you got your end away." She moved forward and gave him a long hug and a kiss on each cheek.

She looked down at the wine and flowers and sighed with relief, absently linking her arms with his. "I'm so glad you didn't get me daisies, apparently I'm a huge slut for men who give me daisies and/or samosas." She led him down the hall and into the living room, depositing him next to Dean. "Can I get you a drink, charms?"

Seamus groaned, but it was good natured. He hadn't really expected to be able to keep the information from his friends. Susan and Dean both knew him too well. Which was great, when he needed a hug but couldn't bring himself to ask but was somewhat less convenient when they could tell the moment his sexual frustration abated. "Yes, I have," he admitted. The fact that it had been unexpected with no leading up dates meant it could only be one person - a fact Susan well knew.

He handed her the wine and the mixed bouquet. "I figured everyone would bring food to share, so these are just for you." Though he raised his eyes at Susan's comment. "Susan Bones, you are not a slut for anyone." Just because Susan didn't have issues that inhibited her sex life didn't mean she got to throw words like that at herself. "Though who..." His question was cut off as Susan practically pushed him onto the sofa next to Dean.

"Hey," he said, bumping his shoulder against his friend's. "I'll have a beer if you've got one."

When Rose had pulled out the țuică for Susan this afternoon, it had been with the intention of her having a single shot – two at most – two calm down enough to actually make sense. Of course, with the red wine, the shots had just sort of… followed on their own, and the two of them had ended up finishing off that bottle of red that Rose had opened, finished most of a second and made quite an impact on the pretty bottle with the pear and the homebrewed brandy.

So when Susan had left, Rose had taken a cool shower and then taken a nap – complete with a hangover potion on the nightstand – so she could be at least relatively sober for Susan’s dinner party. The problem was, that Rose wasn’t hungover when she woke up; he was still drunk. Not drunk-drunk, but enough to make her giggle at the empty bottles on her coffee table.

Still, she braved her high-heeled knee-high boots and the black leather skirt with the dark maroon, fitted and low-cut shirt, and made her way to Susan’s. She paused a moment outside the door, knowing that she could just walk in, but on the other hand, Susan had guests in there, and should at least have a head-up that Rose hadn’t completely sobered up from their talk this afternoon. With that thought in mind, Rose bit her lips to keep from giggling and knocked on the door, cleared her throat and promised herself that she could do this without saying too much.

Susan opened the door and looked at Rose, who was tittering slightly in her 'I am here to steal the innocence of your menfolk' outfit. "Thank Helga that it's not just me that's still a teensy bit drunk," she said before leaning forward to kiss Rose and give her a great big hug.

"Come in," she said, leading Rose into the living room and after a moments thought, depositing her next to Dean and Seamus. "Boys, you remember Rosie right? Seamus at least you must know her - she drinks at your pub all the time."

"Rosie can I get you anything? Soft drink, water, hair of the dog," she called over her shoulder as she walked towards the kitchen.

She was running late. She hated running late, but Hannah completely had a legitimate excuse with a woman going into labor that morning and lasting most of the day. "I'm sorry!" Hannah rushed through the door of Susan's home, a pie balanced in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. "Babies keep their own schedule."

She hadn't even dressed up for the dinner party, Hannah thought regrettably as she caught sight of Susan. A tee shirt and pair of jeans made up her outfit. "I hope I didn't miss anything too important."

Justin had been careful on the drinking. One glass of wine only and a lot of water as well as a piece of bread so he wouldn't be drinking on an empty stomach. He had been looking forward to seeing Hannah, making note pretty much every day to write her a little something, or grab her for lunch.

When he heard her voice at the door, he quickly made his way to her and before anyone else replied to her, he wrapped his arms around his friend and hugged her.

Eddie was, to put it mildly, fashionable late. He contemplated not coming at all, not because he didn't want to see Susan (oh Rowena did he), but he didn't know how it would be to see her with her clothes on and not be able to think about what she looked like naked. So, he took a VERY long shower (so long Laila had yelled at him about wasting all the hot water, to which he shouted back that they were magic, hot water never ran out and would she just shut it??), and laid in his bed, hands knit behind his head, completely unable to stop thinking about the feel of her skin and the taste of her lips and her glorious, glorious tits. And, of course, of the fact that maybe he had fucked things up by sleeping with her. Didn't she deserve better than him?

So, when he knew the dinner party would be winding down (and he'd have more time alone with Susan), he threw on some clothes and made his way to her familiar flat and knocked on the door. He wasn't sure what to expect when he arrived, but he had to admit he was still pretty excited to see her. He'd stopped to pick up some flowers for her, hoping to make up for his late arrival. "I'm here, Red," he called, hoping she'd be alone, or at least the party would be dying down.

Such was the noise that a roomful of Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors made that it was only Susan's wards that alerted her to Eddie's arrival. Smiling to herself, she got up and wandered down stairs, and padded up to the door - she, Rose, and Megan had long since decided at Hannah's suggestion that it was silly to be wearing tottering heels when they could be comfortable. Opening it, she smiled at him and pulled his head down for a quick kiss. "Hello, you made it I see," she said, graciously accepting his beautiful flowers and summoning a vase to put them in on the side table by the entry.

"I take it you were hoping to get here as the party was winding down," she said archly, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Silly rabbit."

While Megan was late, she had a good reason. She and Darby had had a row. In fact, it was a pretty epic fight, considering they often avoided talking instead of fighting. The reason why was obvious-Megan was going out again and leaving him behind to his own devices. He had needs too! Or so he had shouted, and Megan had cried and ruined her make up and had to fix it, and then it took her a while before she was ready to go to Susan. Megan tried not to think about the look on Darby's face. When had they turned this corner? For a long while, she thought it was just her that was unhappy, but it was clear Darby didn't like it any more than she did. What were they really even holding on to, anyway?

But now was not the time to dwell on it. She had promised Susan she would stop by the party and she didn't want to disappoint her friend. Bottle of wine in tow, though her eyes were still a little red rimmed, Megan knocked on her friend's flat ready to forget about the row and all it represented. "Hallo, Susan! It's Meg, I hope I'm not TOO late!"

Susan heard the door knock, followed by the sound of Megan's voice. Smiling to herself, she hurried down the stairs and hall and flung open the front door. Susan had just walked into the kitchen to grab another bottle of wine, when she found Dean quietly pouring himself a glass of coke. She purposely made her footfalls a bit heavier as she walked in, alerting him to her presence. "Hey," she said, walking up to him and giving him a hug once he'd looked up at her. "Sorry about the bum comment before, it sort of just slipped out and grew bigger than a Hippogriff's ego."

She grabbed the wine, then turned and looked at him speculatively. "I've been meaning to ask you something actually," she said, seriously, leaning against the island and looking at him. "But before I begin I want you to understand that I'm in no way pressuring you, and I will be happy with what ever answer you give me, or indeed if you need a while to think about it." She grimaced, berating herself for making her question sound much more ominous than it actually was going to be.

Having escaped the noise of the main party for a little quiet and a new drink, Dean was surprised to hear footsteps behind him. When he saw it was Susan, he immediately smiled and returned her hug, greeting her quietly.

"Oh, I'll survive," he said. " It was just a bit weird for me. I can blame the alcohol if it makes you feel any better, though."

Listening carefully as he sipped his newly poured drink he began to frown, not sur if he inedible the ominous sounding words. "Okay," he said, drawing out the syllables to voice his unease. " Just ask me already, I want to know."
