RP: Day off
Who: Mac, Neville, OPEN
What: Cormac has a day off and runs into an old familiar face
Where: Finnigan’s - The Common Room
When: Monday, September 1 - evening
Rating: TBD

Mac ordered himself an ale at the bar in the Common Room, grabbing a seat that gave him a goof view of the room. He'd be back to work at the shop tomorrow, but as his version of a Sunday night, he liked to relax on Monday evenings at the bar and catch maybe some card games or the news on WWN. Truth be told, he may have fantastic fashion sense and expensive hobbies, but when it came down to actually feeling content in the moment, he was fairly easy to please.

When his drink was settled in front of him, the foam light and just right, he took to people watching the room.

Neville could see Cormac's point, but not everything at Hogwarts was about the war. At least not for him. "First time I ever had friends my age. Long nights playing games and snacks in the Common Room. And September 1st we'd all bring a bunch of candy and just.. tell each what our summer had been like." He looked inside his ale and smiled, thanking Seamus.

"For a few months everyone's life was almost in sync. Now everyone's got their own schedules and it's easy to lose touch with one another. Ah well.. At least I know where to find that one most of the time." He chuckled and look at Seamus who was busy working.

"Ah, yes, I figured that's what you meant, the friends and all. Never been my strong-suit," he gave Neville a look that said and you know I'm telling the truth.

"I do miss those train rides though, learned quite a bit on them," he quirked his eyebrow suggestively.

Cormac laughed with Neville, "It's true, Seamus has done a good thing making the pub the cornerstone of Monument Alley. And thank Godric it's better than the Leaky Cauldron, I couldn't stand another lunch of Tom's pea soup for the rest of my life, I think. The chef's here are awful, or were if they're even still employed, btu the food doesn't bite back, at least."

"Oh.." Neville said, realizing what Cormac meant. He had no words of comfort to offer him so he looked into his ale. As he received his plate of chips, he pushed the basket between the two of them before looking into it.

"I didn't learn that kind of stuff in there. I always ended up chasing after Trevor." He gave a chuckle. Sometimes he missed Trevor, his semi-faithful pet.

One bite of his chip and he made a face. "Oi, these are awful." he said shaking his head. Unsalted and undercooked. Great.

Mac laughed at the look on Neville's face. "Yeah, the food here hasn't been worth the spit to shine your shoes lately," he shook his head. "I can't see why they haven't done anything about it."

Looking around, he shrugged. Surely there was some fresh-out-of-Hogwarts kid who needed a job for the fall? Not everyone went into the Ministry or apprenticeships? "Do you know if they're even looking for replacements?" The bartenders were great here, which is really what mattered if you asked Mac - not that anyone did - but a man had to eat, after all.

"I haven't asked him, but knowing Seamus, I'm pretty sure he's aware that the food's crap and he's working on it." He nodded and sighed. He always liked to have some chips with his ale. Ah well.

"I just wish the next cook will be better and have more.." He paused trying to find the right words. "I don't know."

"Talent?" Cormac asked, laughing a little bit at his own bad little joke.

Shaking his head he said, "Anyway, if you want real good chips, you go down to this little place right off the Thames, on the south side of the Riverfront, I swear the little muggle runs it out of the back of a bus, but it's incredible food. And the bars down there make for some good crowd watching and bird picking as well. On the right night." He wasn't sure Neville was the sort to ever have just gone on out on a night with a bunch of guy friends and found himself a woman. He wasn't sure Longbottom had ever had a woman, or if he even wanted women, but there you have it.

Neville chuckled, blushing. He hadn't meant any disrespect towards the cook, but seriously..

"I don't go to Muggle places much. I know I should but it's just.." He cleared his throat, shifting on his seat. "I haven't gotten around to ask that kind of favor."
