Question for my fellow business owners! How do you deal with customers who don't follow the rules of your establishment?

I ask only because I had yet another patron wander in drunk today, and then get belligerently upset when I asked him to come back when he was sober, even though that rule is clearly posted on the front door and all over the place inside.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Otherwise I'm going to ask Zacharias to put up wards against drunks on the entrance to the parlor.

Drunk customers are few and far between in Sweet Nothings, but there has been a few over the years. Rather, our troublesome customers tend to be of the opinion that they're free to touch and sample our cakes and other products.

The few times when pressure or outright threats from other customers haven't been enough to stop them before we could interfere, friendly admonishment have been enough. Sometimes it has followed by outright demands to leave the establishment or even the summoning of law enforcement to deal with them.

Okay, first off, that sucks.

I'm finding that politeness is not really working for me in these situations, unfortunately. Thankfully I've never had to get law enforcement involved, but one of my employees did have to practically man-handle this guy out the door. I'm just worried about how I'll deal if it's a day I'm in the parlor by myself.

We throw them out and ban them. Sometimes permanently, sometimes for shorter periods depending on how badly they're breaking the rules. We do get rid of especially drunk people, but we usually try and sober them up a bit first.

If anyone gets really belligerent and you can't handle it you're welcome to send over for one of our security staff, they're used to dealing with drunk arseholes. You might have to wait a few minutes if they're busy though.

I don't want to ban anyone, necessarily - I just want them sober to make a decision about a permanent body modification.

Thanks for the offer! I'm hoping I don't have to take you up on it, but it's nice to know I can call for backup if I need to!

I think I've only banned someone once for being drunk, and that was because it was so persistent. But I get why you don't want them making that sort of decision drunk. Our rules are more related to illegal or deeply creepy behaviour.

You're welcome. I hope you don't either, but it's important to support each other, and we're near enough that it's practical!

I generally ask them to leave a few times, politely, then more firmly. I've only ever had to remove someone myself once, though the Aurors have been called a couple of times in the past, I believe.

I often just sic my cat on them, though. It solves a lot of problems.

Yeah, that's about the process I'm going through currently each and every time this happens, though without the Aurors aspect. Quite honestly, it's getting very tiresome.

I find the idea of a guard-cat hysterically funny, even if I don't think it would help my situation.

You've never met my cat, obviously. Hurricane of claws if she thinks something is very wrong.

You could always go for a dog, though.

I can kind of read my name and wards, and I've no problem putting up a few wards if you want.

I am 84.2% positive that I want a ward on the entrance that doesn't allow inebriated individuals in enter the parlor. Would that be possible?
