Gobstones vs Chess
Who: Greg and Ron
What: A mix-up
Where: The Roost
When: Thursday evening [backdated because I'm absentminded this week]
Rating: SFW for now

Greg's day hadn't gone well. He'd had trouble sleeping, for no obvious reason, and had then been faced by crowds of customers that he had to look after on his own because Weasley was spending more and more time lately in his workshop working on new products. Worst, had been the nagging feeling that he had agreed to do something after work but couldn't remember what. When his day finally finished and he changed out of the hated magenta robes, he headed for Finnigan's with the vague idea that it might be the night for Gobstones. It didn't feel quite right, but Greg honestly couldn't think of anything else he'd agreed to do, so he decided to at least check.

The Den, when he got there, was quiet and the few people who were present weren't sitting at Gobstones boards. After a moment of standing frowning at the world in general, Greg decided to check the upstairs room. Gobstones wasn't usually held there, but maybe it had been moved for some reason and he didn't want to ask behind the bar. If he'd been able to see someone he knew, he might have asked for help - but not from strangers and Gryffindors.

As soon as he walked through the door of The Roost it was obvious he was in the wrong place. It was set up with a huge wizarding chess set - and despite the violence of it, Greg had always hated wizarding chess. Malfoy and his mother had tried to teach him, but he could never remember which piece was supposed to move in which way and matches invariably ended with his troops shouting up at him, refusing to follow his orders and then blaming him for their loss of men. He didn't turn right around though but instead stood frowning. If he wasn't supposed to be at Finnigan's - where was he supposed to be?

For someone who had seemed to determined to assert his right to be here, Ron was amused by how quickly Greg seemed to be leaving now. He couldn't wait to tell Harry about this later.

"Yeah," Ron said, happy to dismiss himself from the other man's company, "and you enjoy your stupid whatever-it-is."
