The shop's books were finally finished. He'd even figured out a way to take a week off like he'd wanted - a week without family holidays or travel or any obligations.

He shut the accounting book with a final puff of exhaled air. The shop had been open for a year now, and he'd purchased the building two years ago. He'd been turning a profit for 9 months and paying his parents back since then. Ana and Gill didn't expect him to pay them back - they'd told him the money was a gift and to consider it his entirely. But he'd done it anyway, and planned on paying them back fully. If his first year math was correct, he'd be able to pay them back within the next two with just the Monument Alley building. Even faster if he could get the second floor flat rented out. Of course, Mac had started thinking maybe he didn't just want the Monument Alley location. Maybe, he wanted more. And he'd found himself think such things a lot lately.

But before he let himself get too far down that particular rabbit hole, he ran upstairs to his flat to shower and change before flooing to her flat in Camden. Stepping out of the fire place he called, "Lavender? I hope I'm not too late." He smiled, knowing he wasn't.

When she seemed to stiffen at his surprise declaration, Cormac felt his stomach drop in a rare moment of total and complete loss of confidence. But then she looked surprised (as surprised as he felt, he was sure) and she pulled him back toward her with her legs. Her hand on his heart surely felt the way it beat like a ramrod, and then she replied and he started breathing again and he laughed, "You were waiting for me to say it? I told you you're the brains of this outfit," he shook his head and his eyes shown as she said it back to him and then pulled him to her lips again.

"With pleasure, my lover," he answered before kissing her soundly and molding his body against hers once again. He felt as if a weight he hadn't been able to identify had been lifted from his chest, he felt like he could fly faster than any Quidditch pro, and defeat any dragon in the world. It was a strange feeling, but he dove into it and as he did his kiss became more insistent, nearly desperate as he grabbed at Lavender's clothes needing to just be closer to her in this instant.

"I don't want to be the brains," Lavender murmured, the tip of her nose touching his. "Not something I'm good at." She'd been terrified, really, that saying it would scare him away or he wouldn't feel the same. It was a terrible excuse; she'd seen with her own eyes the way he looked at her, felt the way he held her. A part of her had known without him saying a word, but she'd made a mistake once in her past and the skittishness about revealing her true feelings was hard to shake.

Lavender embraced him, tugging at his shirt and needing to be as close to him as she could. Giddiness whirled around her, but at the centre of it her feelings felt anchored and secure.

A delighted laugh escaped her as her dress ended up half in the (thankfully empty) sink. She crushed her lips to Cormac's again, deftly unbuttoning his shirt and craving the feel of his skin on hers.
